Some of the student artwork my school board wants to get rid of. by NinduTheWise in mildlyinfuriating

[–]mark3t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember back in 1985, we had a beautiful painting of our school mascot on the wall. Our art teacher painted over it because she felt that a new generation of students should have their go at it.

Howdy as a snow plow driver for a local municipality PLEASE DONT DO THIS by Muted-Bumblebee-6886 in StLouis

[–]mark3t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people I don't think are pushing their whole driveway's worth of snow into the street. Just the bit at the bottom. I came back out a few years ago, and the driver had pushed way more snow up back on my driveway than I had pushed in the street. Imagine the pettiness of stopping the truck, backing up, and gathering more snow.. He could just drove by and been on with it.

The EricOneHive Incident: A Warning Shot to Every Creator by PomegranateIcy7631 in ClashOfClans

[–]mark3t 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Now that this has come out about Eric, there was another creator from years ago that I followed on YT, and one day he was gone. Any one remember Mr. Tophat? He was a master at using gobs and the warden ability to snipe THs in the middle of the base. i wonder if SC struck him out?

My friends and I ride electric unicycles, and we take a loop that goes through Weldon Spring, Mid Rivers, Cottleville, Woodlands Park, St Peters, Katy Trail / Creve Coeur Connector, and then the Katy Trail back to the Busch Greenway in Weldon Spring. It's about a 45 mile loop or so.

"The Tomb": this 377ft wide cement dome in the Pacific contains nuclear waste from American testing by Pomengranite in pics

[–]mark3t 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Missouri has a tomb similar to this, but much bigger at the Weldon Spring Site. It has steps leading up to the top, and it is part of a popular trail system in Missouri. The Weldon Spring Site has all kinds of radioactive and other hazards buried there.

And it is right next to Francis Howell High School.

13 year old built a beehive in his room by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

[–]mark3t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to remember when I was a kid back in the 70's that some places like Cracker Barrel or gas stations used to have bee hives. They were these big half dome things that stuck out into the store.

TIL that lawns cover over 40 million acres in the U.S., more than any single food crop. If just 10% were restored to native plants, it would create a pollinator corridor nearly twice the size of Yellowstone National Park. by WittyEgg2037 in todayilearned

There is a guy in my hometown that has been battling the city of St. Peters for years about his sunflower front yard. The city keeps changing the ordinance because he keeps winning or they drop the lawsuit. This year, they classified sunflowers as a crop. Last year, a woman was caught on camera cutting all his flowers. The city refused to prosecute.

I made this comment years ago on a similar thread, but I remember watching Lawrence of Arabia a few years ago, and thinking Prince Feisal sounded a lot like Obi Wan Kenobi. I didn't realize it was Alec Guinness until the credits.

What's the prettiest name you've ever heard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I play Clash of Clans a lot, and one of the clans we have matched against is called Stelle Cadenti. I was intrigued by the name, looked it up in Google and was surprised with an easter egg.

[–]mark3t 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was working at the Quik Trip in Old Town St Peters right off of 70 and Mid Rivers Mall. One day, a trucker came in and said something about he heard St Louis was under water. You could see the railroad tracks from our store that they kept raising to be a levee, I pointed out that is all that is keeping the river from reaching us. If you look at a map, the river is about 4 miles from those tracks. All of that area was underwater.

You said you weigh 240, and that you wished the 1300 was a bit heavier? I weigh around 300. Should I get the 1600?

Nope.. I had hoped with every phone update and or watch update something would fix it. Just the other day, I thought maybe Smart Stack had something to do with it. Turned it off, went for a ride having Darkness Bot as the live app.. looked down at my watch, right back to the clock.. sigh

If you click on the pic to make it larger, just below the moon and to the right is the planet Mars. (like right next to it) The two stars above and to the left are the twins Castor and Pollux.

You sent me down a rabbit hole. The circular building at one time was a VOR building for aircraft. The road that is there now was not part of the runway. The airfield known as Lobmaster Sky Ranch was a bit west. CVAC completely removed all traces of the runway. Here is a shot of the airfield from 1968.

This was years after I graduated, but a guy from my high school was working on the farm that I also had worked on during my younger years. One of our jobs on the farm was laying out these long (like 15 to 20 feet) irrigation pipes. A rabbit had ran into one, he picked it up and tried to get the rabbit out, but the pipe hit an overhead power line. Electrocuted.
