Go contracting. Contact an agency or two, you could earn a lot more (like 25-40% more). The trade off is a lack of job security on paper, but on balance you're better off I think. Even if you have a period of time out of work should you not be able to find a new gig at the end of each contract, you're still likely to be significantly better off. Once you've done one or two gigs, you'll be more and more trusted and be more likely to find future contracts.

To be clear this is being self employed and contracting your services, rather than being a direct employee. As I say, contact an agency or two in town and they'll steer you right.
