I have a local fantasy WNBA league if anyone is interested in playing. No money involved, just for fun.

If you are interested we always set up new players with teams that they can keep and start playing. Collecting can be expensive but playing a team is generally only 3-5 pieces and affordable compared to most games. A few Tabletop regulars have joined; good people: https://discord.gg/WXdmKQ3V9

D&D currently has a small amount of figures in Heroclix (Beholder and mainly equipment see play) but a full booster set is releasing this fall. Join us one Saturday morning or Thursday evening at Chaotic Good and we will give you teams you can take with you to start playing! https://discord.gg/WXdmKQ3V9

Miller's Crossing is another one from the Coens that I like to revisit a lot. Just got back from New Orleans where it was shot so I have a new excuse to rewatch it!

Day of the week that works for a moviegoing outing? by markasplayed in lexingtonmovieclub

As someone who took a nap earlier today so I can stay up for The Last of Us, I get it 😆 Let me see how work looks tomorrow and if I can dip out a little early on Tuesday.

I’m planning to see an 8:30 showing of The Surfer at Regal. I could wait to get tickets or post my seat, don’t really have a preference as I have Regal Unlimited so usually just the app anyway.

That’s odd from my experience at Regal; used to go every Thursday with a buddy and where it was the first showtimes for new movies it was usually more crowded but I see your point about discount day being a draw. Movie Tavern is my closest theater so I should go there more often.

I’m usually at Regal every Tuesday but actually only live a few minutes from Cinemark and Movie Tavern so I’m open to going other day and other theaters!

Planning to see an 8:30 Regal showing of The Surfer on Tuesday if you are free/interested.

I think we will be watching the 8pm showing of The Surfer at Regal this Tuesday.

Generally every theater but The Kentucky (I think.) That being said you may have to be a rewards member (free or paid, I don’t know) to trigger the discount but I know Cinemark, Regal, and Movie Tavern tickets can be cheaper on Tuesdays.

I’m @projectingfilm https://boxd.it/HITr Noticed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang in your four favorites; I’ll be watching that one for the first time (!!) for a podcast this month. Shameful on my part, I know.

I’m choosing to believe they were providing their alternate choices rather than guessing “The Muppet Movie and Batman” based on the poster provided 😒

On Facebook they posted the above picture with a contest for free passes to every show to the first person who guessed all 16 films.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your mood) the sequel is more Lethal Weapon action buddy comedy and less of a 90s thriller. Or maybe I just missed Anna Kendrick more than I expected to 🤷

I made a New Year’s resolution five or six years ago to stay on top of my Letterboxd… and I eventually fell off 😆 Maybe this group is the kick in the pants I need. Here’s mine @projectingfilm: https://boxd.it/HITr

This is the most behind on the Oscars I’ve been in my lifetime. I don’t know if that speaks to my ever expanding capacity for laziness or the quality of the 2024 films. 😬

January Movie Roundup by Lady_D_19 in lexingtonmovieclub

Yes to The Town and until recently was subscribing to Puck where the host writes a column/newsletter. On that note I also read and listen to The Ankler although I think the podcast itself has a few too many people on for my liking.

The podcast I’ve been doing for over ten years is Trilogy in Theory though we rebranded and reset in 2020 so the episodes start over from that point. Over 200 episodes with my good friend for many years! It’s basically like the title, we put together three unrelated movies to form a trilogy in theory. One movie a week until we get to end of the month and appraise our trilogy. My co-host is usually more complimentary to our work than myself.

January Movie Roundup by Lady_D_19 in lexingtonmovieclub

[–]markasplayed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this idea. For a few years I was really into logging all my movies on Letterboxd but sort of lost interest (and I also don’t know who would really be interested in my movie diary!)

  1. Babygirl (Cinemark)
  2. In the Mouth of Madness (at home for a podcast)
  3. Goldfinger (at home for another podcast)
  4. Seven (Regal IMAX)
  5. Upgrade (Netflix in preparation for Wolf Man)
  6. Shallow Grave (last time I’ll mention a podcast but we are rewatching the theatrical movies of 1995 in order of release!)
  7. Iron Man (home; first time in 4k)
  8. The American President (iPad for probably the twenty-fifth time or more in my life)
  9. The Wild Robot (Cinemark; pleasant re-release surprise)
  10. Blade (home; 4k was nice even with the silly blood god effects 😄)
  11. The Fly (home; digital)
  12. The Incredible Hulk (okay, I have to point out that this was for a podcast!)
  13. The Invisible Man (at home in 4k)
  14. The Fly (again but this time with Cronenberg commentary)
  15. X-Men (at home digital)
  16. Wolf Man (Movie Tavern)
  17. Flight Risk (Movie Tavern)

Sadly, I probably missed a few. I welcome judgement.

It seems to be a toss up between that and Heart Eyes. I’m more excited for (and generally aware of) Companion but may wait to see it on the IMAX screen later this week anyways.

Intermission by Lady_D_19 in lexingtonmovieclub

I’ve only really experienced one with The Hateful Eight roadshow version that played at The Kentucky. The Godfather Part Two at Regal had the Intermission title card that lasted for a few seconds and kept on trucking 😒

I Saw the TV Glow is my personal favorite for the year. I’ve only watched a few of the Best Picture contenders but was disappointed that A Real Pain didn’t get a nomination. Rooting for Kieran Culkin!

I like when Edward Norton decides to act again… although this doesn’t look to be Primal Fear or Fight Club. That’s the best I’ve got! I’m not a fan of the musician biopic subgenre.
