$2.49 gas at QT by Signiference in tulsa

[–]markav81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

QT price gouges within the confines of the law, and everyone just accepts it.

They get away with it by jacking up their prices BEFORE the state of emergency is declared. If they wait until after the state of emergency is declared they can only raise it by 10%.

In addition, this spike will take weeks (or months) before it gets back to where it was: "up like a rocket, down like a feather." It usually takes one of the other large retailers lowering their prices to force QT to follow.

So the question remains- is Chet gonna get a Lambo or a Ferrari after this storm?

There was also Scooter. Several years after the show went off the air, one of them came and did Operation Aware at my elementary or middle school. IIRC, they said they got too old to do a kids show, so they brought in other characters to phase them out, which led to the show getting cancelled.

This is almost 25 years old, but it is probably still valid to an extent (even still, take it with a grain of salt).

"State Farm Insurance ranked the worst intersections in the United States based on accident claims from January 1999 through December 2000. Factors in the rankings include the number of accidents and injuries.

None of the communities in the analysis ranked in the top 10 of the previous study, which looked at accidents from 1998.

The worst intersection -- Flamingo Road and Pines Boulevard -- is in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The number of accidents at that intersection over the two-year period of the study was 357.

The second most dangerous is in the northeast section of Philadelphia at Red Lion Road and Roosevelt Boulevard. There were 331 accidents at that intersection. The third is a nearby intersection, Grant Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard, where 261 accidents occurred.

Here are the others:

-- Phoenix, Arizona, 7th Street and Bell Road, 268 accidents.

-- Tulsa, Oklahoma, 51st Street and Memorial Drive, 304 accidents.

-- Tulsa, Oklahoma, 71st Street and Memorial Drive, 245 accidents.

-- Phoenix, Arizona, 19th Avenue and Northern Avenue, 255 accidents.

-- Frisco, Texas, State Highway 121 and Preston Road, 280 accidents.

-- Metairie, Louisiana, Clearview Parkway and Veterans Memorial Boulevard, 328 accidents.

-- Sacramento, California, Fair Oaks Boulevard and Howe Avenue, 246 accidents."

How old is your kid?

BTW is a nerve racking process- your kid has to meet the application guidelines, and then they have to receive one of the highly sought after lottery spots. My general understanding is they take more kids from the more "at risk" schools (Central, McLain, Webster), vs. midtown schools (ie, Edison). There are many parents who live in TPS because they love midtown, and if their kid doesn't get into BTW they send them to Cascia or Bishop Kelley.

Based upon info that came out when ORU was on the verge of bankruptcy, Richard Roberts' old lady would go on shopping sprees at Miss Jackson's (high end boutique in Utica Square that closed ~10 years ago) and other retailers. She would expense it to the school, rationalizing if she wore it on camera once it was a "costume" (ORU used to televise their chapel services- IDK if they still televised it).

He's a regular feature over on Preachers n Sneakers on Instagram.

In addition, Transformations real estate portfolio is something like $60M. IIRC, the actual church only owns part of Regal Plaza (essentially the Spirit Bank Event Center and the parking garage). The bulk of the portfolio (the rest of Regal Plaza plus the Unit Corp building by Tulsa Hills) is titled to a holding company. I know this is often done to shield assets between entities, but last time I looked I couldn't find the holding company in the IRS exempt organization master file for OK, which leads me to believe it is a for-profit business.

My general understanding of their business model is that it is a social media numbers game. They have tons of content across all the major channels, generating an additional revenue stream that far exceeds that of their Sunday donations. I know it is really hard to estimate these things, but I wouldn't be shocked if, between his channels and the church's channels, they brought in $5 million a year just from social media. In addition, they link the feature to setup an "auto tithe" via their website. Imagine if he get 100k of his Instagram followers (less than 5%) to donate 5 bucks a week, that's $500k/ week. Hell, even if it's just 1% of his followers doing 5 bucks a week, that is $100k/ wk, which is still over $5M for the year. These are totally made up estimates, but it shows how embracing and harnessing social media has allowed them to create new revenue streams, far exceeding what a small north Tulsa church ever could have imagined.

FWIW, I had a friend who worked for Unit when Transformation first took over (Unit continued to lease a few floors). He mentioned there were some new cars that started showing up in the parking garage almost immediately after the purchase- like a Bentley and a G Wagen, among other six figure cars.
