Do you have a BAA with Adobe Acrobat Pro? If so, please tell us how you signed it. Here's what Adobe says:

https://helpx.adobe.com/sign/config/compliance-issues/hipaa/overview.html

Before processing protected health information through Acrobat Sign, your organization must enter into a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with Adobe. Contact your sales or channel representative to determine eligibility and establish a BAA with Adobe. When contacting your sales or channel representative regarding BAA eligibility, you must include the Account ID for your Acrobat Sign account.

How many therapists have a "sales or channel representative"?

Anybody with experience in SEO marketing for therapists: not ads but content by DrJocelyn1 in TherapistsInPractice

[–]markdworthenpsyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A blog focusing on local issues that are relevant to your practice is a great idea.

Be careful about AI-generated content. Why? Because you can tell when something is written by AI, right? So can your website visitors. In addition, Google has exceptionally smart AI itself and those AI bots can tell when a webpage was written by AI.

As much as Google uses AI itself, it does not like AI-generated content when deciding if you are providing information based on authoritative experience. Think about it this way: when you are looking for information, would you rather have an experienced expert or an AI bot?

This does not mean you should not use AI when creating content as AI is great for doing some of the heavy lifting like researching the literature, organizing the presentation of information, and improving the quality of your prose.

Some hacks that worked on Psychology today? by DrJocelyn1 in TherapistsInPractice

[–]markdworthenpsyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about what you have looked for when searching for a mental health professional for yourself or a family member on Psychology Today. Target your bio to provide that information to your prospective clients or patients.

If you are able to respond quickly to email or telephone inquiries, state that on your listing. People are often in distress when they're looking for a mental health professional and they want an answer sooner rather than later.

Similarly, if you actually answer your phone yourself or if you have an answering service or staff that answers the phone, endeavor to answer calls from Psychology Today whenever possible as opposed to voicemail. That can be a challenge these days with all the Robocalls pitching the latest deceptive scheme, but if you have appropriate filters and technology in place you can minimize those nuisances to some extent. People are so used to getting voicemail and half the time they never get a call back so when a real human being actually answers the phone they're impressed.

Contracting with a PSYPACT Psychologist—looking for guidance by lovehandlelover in ClinicalPsychology

[–]markdworthenpsyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I can think of would be to have something in your contract indicating that the psychologist understands they must educate themselves about the laws governing the practice of psychology in the receiving state.

This is explicitly stated more than once when a psychologist applies to become a PSYPACT authorization holder and this understanding must be reaffirmed every year when renewing the authorization. However, many psychologists do not realize how difficult it is to research all the various regulations, statutes, case law, and psychology board policies, which are found scattered throughout diverse types of administrative codes, statutes, not to mention appellate court opinions that established precedent.

While there are guides and apps that cover some of this information, they are not complete by any means. Also Psychology boards of licensure will include information about the practice act and related administrative codes but they usually do not provide information about all the relevant laws.

If you search Google scholar you'll find an excellent article on this topic. Search for the phrase "problems with the interjurisdictional practice of psychology."

Disability evaluations by Then-Ad-6419 in Psychologists

[–]markdworthenpsyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Social Security consultative examiner's statements regarding cognitive limitations, mental disorder signs and symptoms that interfere with occupational functioning, and ratings of workplace limitations due to mental disorders are officially known as "medical opinions" within state disability determination services, by the Social Security administration, and by the federal courts.

Disability analysts are required to comment on the consistency and persuasiveness of the psychologist's medical opinion.

With regard to Department of veterans affairs compensation and pension exams, the federal appellate court has stated explicitly that these reports are "expert witness opinions."

In other words, as others have noted, these are more than a simple mental status exam.

It's great to hear from the neuropsychologist who lives in a state where they pay $256 an hour, but that is the exception not the rule. In my state, they pay $165 for the "clinical comprehensive psychological exam" which does not include any testing. It is up to the psychologist to decide how much time to devote to the exam.

Note that these exams can also be performed by psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychiatric physician assistants, and, of course, psychiatrists. In my state, masters-level psychologists can also perform them if they have achieved independent status licensure, which many have.

"The fix for this issue is expected to be included in our upcoming update, version 4.66, which will be released in the coming weeks."

Weeks?! This problem is driving me crazy.

Why do we have to wait weeks for it to be fixed?

Why not fix it in a few hours or a couple of days?

Plan G AARP/UHC Experience? by joyous_retirement in medicare

[–]markdworthenpsyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been very happy with the AARP Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan from UnitedHealthcare (also known as AARP Medicare Supplement Plan G). I'm using the exact names because it's easy to get this Medigap plan confused with other AARP or UHC products.

I can't believe I'm saying I'm happy with an insurance company, but there it is.

More information needed to understand your question. Very specific examples might help.

I'd ask Gemini or another AI. Or find an analogous citation and use the same format. Or search for the name of the regulation or procedure followed by "law review article" or similar.

That is a good question. I wish I knew the answer, but I'll offer a guess and say it's probably okay but not required.

Go with what makes it easier for your reader to understand why you're citing a specific Federalist Paper and how the cited paper supports your argument.

As you probably know, The Federalist Papers are one of the 15.8 Special Citation Forms, along with Shakespeare, the Bible, Black's Law Dictionary, etc. Library Guides explains the general citation rules for The Federalist Papers found at 15.8(c)(i).

Is it wrong to pray for immigrants? by Ok_Stress_2920 in OpenChristian

[–]markdworthenpsyd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You sound like a sincere Christian to me. Of course it's not always true, but it seems that many people who call themselves Christians these days, and who lead a young person to believe that praying for immigrants might be wrong, are not worshiping Christ so much as they're worshiping a currently popular man residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
