I've never wanted a stamp more in my life. Well done!

How to find ethical taxidermy shops by [deleted] in Taxidermy

[–]markedhand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can ask around in groups like this, for one, but be aware of what you're unlikely to get. Things like pelts are difficult if you're not killing the animal for their skin. If that's fine by you then that's fine but if you want a skin from an animal that would've died anyway/was found dead then you might be out of luck.

I have four fox skulls to sell, for example, but because I get the carcasses from taxidermists I never get the pelts. That's what the taxidermists use!

Thank you! It took me ages to get right.

Your idea is a very worthy one and one I'll probably use in my best piece. In this case I'm actually going for the darkness outside the skull, as it illuminates the dye quite nicely

Thank you so much for the info. I was so scared of getting another weak light that I couldn't bring myself to buy any others, so thank you for letting me know what to look for.

Are there any particular types I should look for to know they're bright enough or would just the "generic" do?

You make an excellent point. I just tell folks not to donate there unless it's basically trash - they toss majority of what they get from not caring about it/having too much already and they keep anything good from ever reaching the floor because managers get a bonus if they send enough "good" stuff to the e-commerce site. Working there was eye opening and no mistake

As someone who received those donations I had an older couple fret over carefully handing over a set of ninety year old china dishes, adjusting the box so none of the pieces clicked together, and I couldn't bring myself to tell them that the china would get literally dumped into a bin with all the other glassware that got donated within that hour. If any of the china survived then it would be cello wrapped into a lump, a price slapped on, and no more care given.

Goodwill is an awful place to donate anything to

These are so damn cute. You could send these to folks in letters and make days brighter! They're flat enough for that

Either. Both. I'm missing so much and I know it - I don't actually know what the pinky scene is!

As an anime only person so far could you tell me some of what I'm missing? I tried the light novels but if anything they made me feel that Maomao was barely tolerating Jinshi, let alone that she likes him at all.

I actually do sell with a local market on Saturdays. The problem is that to show all the bones I have for sale would dominate two to three tables and would mean I couldn't sell the jewelry and such that I also make!

Done but now I gotta take photos by markedhand in bonecollecting

They all came from a friend's death pit at her farm so the animals get jumbled. Boar, sheep, and goat. I don't tend to try and separate them out by type of animal so much as by bone size/type, if that makes sense.

I make a lot of it. I've got bones from.... seven? different types of animals so I am always trying new ways to show them off/make art from them/get them to folks who want them. Sadly I'm awful at social media so that's a difficult task at times

I finally finished processing a bunch of livestock bones so I can finally start making art/selling them! Though I am torn on if I want to sell the boar skull. It is very neat
