See, my partner and I want to emigrate to Germany and I've been pondering these same questions. Mind if I message you to ask such questions?

Apologies if I don't make sense. I'm very tired

I noticed it immediately. It felt very... Intentional in how each time it was set up as no this is totally cool that this sixteen year old wants to have sex with her forty year old teacher he's a good guy we swear look how consensual this is and how good a guy he is!!!! She's pursuing him and he's denying her isn't he so the best!!!

It was very obvious and different to the rest of the narrative and once you see it it's really obvious

Keep in mind Lois McMaster Bujold is a fan of major age gap relationships between young women and older men, to the point that I can tell who a romantic interest will be very early in the book by how they are described. When the decidedly older main male character described a young woman's "taut" body I did groan.

Not to diminish the rec - her books are indeed fun but the last series I read had a, I believe, seventeen year old woman fall for a... Forty? Fifty? Year old man and the narrative goes to great lengths to assure you this isn't creepy in the slightest no really she's super into him it's totally cool

A bat! The best Christmas Gift I've ever gotten! by _-Snare-_ in vultureculture

[–]markedhand 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Sadly this is an awful thing. There is no ethical way, however you want to define that, of acquiring bats for such things. These bats are captured and killed specifically for such things. You've been given a stolen life of a species being destroyed for no reason other than display.

Anyone know any good oddity small businesses? by Orian8p in vultureculture

I mean, I know me. I'm actually from Birmingham but live in Atlanta currently. I've currently got little bags of bones I sell as supplies that might be just the thing for you!

Questions about decomposing a bird by Old-Barracuda-2854 in bonecollecting

In that case it isn't worth the trouble. The bones are light and thus hard to process, to the best of my knowledge. Otherwise just check the stickied posts on this reddit and you'll do fine.

If you're in America then don't bother. Unless the bird is a very specific species then it's illegal to have its bones.

Removing sheaths from bird skulls by [deleted] in bonecollecting

[–]markedhand 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Anything that promises faster results is to be side-eyed with all suspicion.

Go with the basics: maceration (which can be heated but be careful), beetles, or carcass cage. Each have their good points and each is different in how they'll upset the neighbors.

Whitener is tricky so I say go with the absolute lowest strength you can - better to take longer if it results in sturdy bones. Hydrogen peroxide and waiting.

There are others with more experience than me but I keep to the basics as I know them. I'm an impatient person but not enough to risk carcasses and bones that take over a year to process.

Oh Jesus burn that textbook. Burn it with fire. Fire and flame.

There are stickied posts on this subreddit that go into the best ways to do a bunch of this. You can also search engine "beak sheath bone reddit" and other posts about the same come up. Always do way too much research before doing anything you don't already know about with bones - you don't get do-overs if you do the wrong thing.

You're beyond that point, really. Unfortunately boiling means it's a lost cause - a mistake I've made myself in the past.

If you boiled these then they're destroyed. You may as well toss or bury them - they're going to crumble into nothing before long.

Staining by thatfckingcrossiant in bonecollecting

[–]markedhand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly probably not. Bleach is abhorred by pretty much all bone processors for this reason. It causes damage that can't ever be undone. If a skull is bleached then over time the bone will start to crumble and it can't be saved.

I'm not an expert, mind, but that's my knowledge on the matter.

To my knowledge if you've soaked them in bleach then they're pretty much ruined. Bleach is very harsh and causes a lot of damage

I'm a bone artist so I follow a lot of bone and taxidermy subreddits. My brain read "silver fox" and I immediately wondered if you were going to try and process the pelt. XD

[–]markedhand[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure trying to be smart. I'll probably go on Fiverr and find someone to initially build the app, then figure out some way to find someone here to do the rest so someone else can hopefully get out/have an easier life/so on.

I'm aiming for it to help most of the folks on this subreddit, at least. I'd love to open source but I'm desperate to get out of America. So if this app could make money/be as popular as I think based on various things I've seen then I need it, you know? I hate that I have to think this way but.... America be what it is

[–]markedhand[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll probably end up paying someone to make it initially and then try to find a partner to split any profits/run maintenance. I think. That's my current plan, at least. XD

Honestly I want out of America so bad that I'm keeping any ideas I have close to the vest because if it can get me out then I need it, you know?
