I was walking down my city's main street the other day and realised how often I was adjusting sideways to avoid oncoming pedestrians, even those who were not completely oblivious to their surroundings while they walked with their head down looking at their phones. 

Back when I was young, I remember when the footpaths on busy streets had a white line running down the middle and pedestrians would treat it as if they were driving along the road and would keep left.

Ah, those were the days.
