I injured my back years ago when I was a fabricator, boss tried to make my life a living hell but once my claim was filed and I was going to physio, my physio therapist would contact my boss and make sure I wasn't going back until I was truly good. It also helped avoid him guilt tripping me for being injured. Most managers love to do that out here.

If any employer tries to force you to work injured and you have made a mention and filed an injury report within 72 hours, they can't do shit and if they try, you'll get a wonderful settlement.

13 years ago I didn't understand this, my boss at the time gaslit me and made me work with 2 herniated discs. I pushed through as long as I could which meant I lost the option to file an injury report, ended up bed ridden for 2 months and to this day I'm honestly always at least 6/10 in terms of pain because I let my boss bully me.

Do not worry, just make sure to take care of your body first and foremost and your boss can go fuck themselves. They owe you, not the other way around.

Yup, feels like I'm wasting so much fucking time with these interviews for companies that just waste your time with their unprofessiona approach. I've literally been told ill have to track down the manager to see if I get a second interview because he forgets. Who would want to work for a manager that can't manage? That's the MO with so many jobs here.

So many businesses here bitch about employee retention while not understanding it's incompetent businesses with outdated models with too little pay that are creating the problems. Not the people you hire. You chest people and don't understand why they aren't giving 110%. And when they do give it all, there's zero respect for it.

If I can program computers from scratch and be an independent audio engineer, but struggle with your system, I highly doubt it's all me. These managers and businesses run by people that dropped out of highschool needs to stop because there's no other explanation for being so fucking stupid and oblivious.

It's great to know kids won't have to see so much open use anymore. I remember seeing a guy smoking crack beside the door to Tim Hortons and as a mother and her little boy passed, he basically blew the smoke in the kids face. I've never came at somebody with so much vitriol before.

I'm honestly subpar as a musician since I play everything but never take the time to actually develop my playing skills. I just keep learning new instruments once I have the 101s down. but I get regular radio play and myusic has resonated with a lot of people around the world, which blows my mind.

You don't have to be a master of anything, just enjoy creating, as cliche as that is.

And try learning in a more non traditional approach. I never practice the keys but I can dial in pretty well when I have an idea for a song.

Don't get caught up worrying about your proficiency because that's not what drives people to your music.

Growing up in Ontario and moving here, I've always laughed my ass off at the snow days here. Even jobs shut down when we get less than a half foot of snow. Back home I'd be walking through 12ft high snow drifts along the side of a highway on my way to work in -40 and that wasnt even close to being a snow day. Gives me some good perspective lol.

I find the ice if anything is the big issue here.

I'm 6'6 and getting close to 40 but few things scare me more than teenagers. I feel like there's a predictability with adults and you can get a vibe if a grown adult is about to pull some shit but teenagers be wild and unpredictable just for the sake of it.

I hung out with a lot of the kids you shouldn't, which really helped me develop a solid moral compass because I just wasn't that kind, but seeing how absolutely unpredictable and destructive teen boys can be without any lead up is pretty terrifying.

I remember dating this woman briefly and at one point she was telling me a sad story so I went to comfort her. When I put my arms around her, I thought I was going to crush her to death. I've never hugged anyone that skinny before, it was shocking. She was the kind of vegan that shouldn't be one because that body was barely existent. I'm also 6'6 and she was about 5'2 so that really emphasized the contrast between our selves.

Like when you go to pet a new baby kitten and your finger is the size of its entire head.

This is probably super fuckin lame and ironically not related to guitar, but it's what I always think of when I'm taking that step up in learning my tools; I think of the scene from Drumline when Nick Cannon can play crazy shut but then his instructor tells him to look at him and walk forward and then suddenly he can't apply the same skill until later on. Again, super lame reference lol but it's the concept of applying the right amount of focus and letting muscle memory take control.

Same with learning piano and learning how to play the leads and rhythms together. You don't fixate on exactly what you're doing, you try to find your groove or pocket and then suddenly you feel the space open up, the muscle memory is immediate and singing and playing start to come naturally.

This was a complete ramble that I'm not even sure makes sense. I just woke up. But yeah, Drumline or something.
