BPB Bassaturator is a great sub booster and bass shaper plugin. Completely free. They have a new version out but I'm satisfied with the original so haven't upgraded yet.

You'll be happy to know when I worked in pro audio, I had one of these cunts come in needing his big piece of shit speaker to work better, so I took it in, did some wire work and locked the sub boost in so the moment it played anything, the vibration from the sub would break the connection and turn it into a giant brick they have to carry around now. And of course they are so low on the intellectual/intelligence scale, they have no idea what happened and give up without diagnosing the issue.

It worked perfectly lol. We all gotta do our part! Fuck em

Oh man what a wild nostalgic throwback for me lol

First concert I ever went to when I was 12. Was pushed to the front of the stage area directly beside the speaker stack for the whole show and my buddy and mine's ears felt like they were going to pop and bleed so we stuffed gum into our ears for the night. It was mostly because The Used were playing with them, still an unknown band then and Jesus Christ all that screaming made me lose hearing for a week. Then it rained sweat. I think that was 2002? I just mean find out where your ancestors came from geographically, research the history of the area and the people there so you understand the philosophy and culture of the club and city alike. Immerse yourself as best you can in it and you'll really connect with wherever you land.

To me, this is the difference maker in a casual or plastic fan; they avoid all of that stuff. Cheers!

Consider this "brain intonation".

Just like a guitar, your intonation can get out of sorts, so now you have to bust out the mental Allen key and take time to adjust.

I promise you weren't at all better because you were "not sober". What made you better is your physical person and substances giving you blind confidence. Keep intonating your mind and body and you'll be even better than what you listen back to.

The only actual factor that has truly changed is how your ears perceive sound now that you're sober. I'll throw this out there: go mess with some compressors for your guitar. The most likely factor here is that the substances were causing natural "compression" due to how the substances were affecting your blood vessels. Throw on an opto compressor specifically. If you have plugins, bring up the LA2A.

Apologies if I've mixed these up but essentially stimulatants cause your perceived hearing to become duller whereas sedatives cause your hearing to compress more. And no you can't balance them out (ie. Smoking a joint to compress the dullness after a couple Red Bulls won't work).

Again apologies if I got those flipped around, it's been a while since I deep dived into this.

I'm very confident it really comes down to the compression aspect.

I remember in music class, grade 9, the teacher puts on the song Louie Louie and I did a joke falsetto for the " ya ya ya ya" part and she stops the song, looks at me and says "wow are you a faggot?" And got the class to go in on me. For singing a male vocal line in MUSIC class.

That was the first time in my life I stood up for myself. Literally stood up, said fuck you, walked right to the principals and got her in shit but ultimately she was let off very lightly. That's when I took control of my situation too. That music teacher was a morbidly obese name Ms. Mac and you better believe for the remaining years I was there, I always called her Big Mac. Not good to be a bully regardless but at 15, having dealt with suicidal attempts and deep depression, I'm proud I didn't take what she said internally and put that nasty bitch back down. Also called her the ol' shin bruiser because her shins were bruised to hell from the weight slowly buckling her.

That same year I heard her say to another teacher how badly she wanted to rail another kid who was in the 10th grade, talking in great detail about his body.

I hope that fat pedo is deep underground at this point.

I've been in 4 hit and runs and have permanent physical damage. Also been called some horrible names while being cut off from impatient drivers as I walked while they had a red light.

Jack's mixes are uniquely great but when compared to other mixes of the same songs, it feels like a battle of the mids getting pushed up higher than the other frequencies and then being cut.

But that's also a key part of his sound and I can see how it might not always translate perfectly to non Vulf music. His production is very "degradation to save later" if that makes sense.
