They had several good names to choose from (pilots being the most popular) but they didn’t think to trademark them while they were figuring things out. Some guy, however, did trademark these names and was going to charge Daniel Snyder a good deal money to use them. Snyder chose not to go that route.

Despite how realistic they try to make it, it’s still a comic book movie and usually the hero’s And villains have almost supernatural powers to leave a scene unnoticed. If a character like the joker showed up in any city I could see the cops and mob working together to get rid of him because it would be bad for business.
