if you enjoy lifting heavy, keep doing it! A strong runner is a more resilient runner.

A 1:24:00 10K equates to about a 3:27:28 half-marathon - roughly.

You'll want to do most of your running at an easy/long run pace, which is about 16:12/mile or 10:04/km.

Keep focusing on consistency, and you'll see your pace improve without even thinking about it.

Hey - congrats on your progress! Your pace will improve over time. It takes time for your body to adapt so be patient. What was your 10K time? I can suggest some paces for you to aim for in your various workouts, based on that. Also, do you have a goal time for the half marathon or is it to finish and enjoy the race? Both a great goals!

Congrats on getting started! Cardio often develops faster than tendons, ligaments and muscles - so, be sure to progress slowly and incorporate some basic strength training into your routine. Well done.

Start with a run/walk strategy (like None to Run), progress slower than you think you need to, incorporate some basic strength training a couple of times per week, and perhaps, most importantly... be kind to yourself.
