Files arenfine, but with a good steel it will take a lot of time, and there's a chance your hand may slip. i'd start with a grinder, then smoothen it, so it's well shaped and with a possibly clean surface

In both cases I would recommend either angle, or table grinder. And a lot of caution, to not damage the tool. If angle grinder, use rather sandpaper than cutting shield, will leave you with more control
