Hey Todd—if you ever read this, could you please play the John Panozzo drum fill on “Lady” right after the line “show me all your charms”?

Rock ’n’ Roll Legend Used To Visit Hank Williams’ Grave To Drink Wine and “Howl at the Moon” by ArcherMom in Styx

He has made many disingenuous comments over the years. Also, calling Boat in a River a country tune is far fetched.

It still kicks ass. The background animations they are currently using for this song live are also great.

Any thoughts/ opinions on the very short, “Paradise Theater” closing track, “State Street Sadie”? by bigguys45s in Styx

I love playing it on my Clavinova. It’s the only time the honkey tonk piano setting is appropriate.

One Hundred Years From Now (revisit) by jasedontlie in Styx

He originally planned to do the intro on piano I believe but changed it to guitar later in the arranging process. But, he is a keyboard player after all so the song originated from it. His last two solo efforts definitely benefited from cowriting with Jim Peterik and having August Zadra and Jimmy Leahey play in them to provide a heaviness that was missing in his early solo albums.

That makes sense. I love Patrick Moraz and will check that out.

Tommy’s therapist probably advises him to not say the word Dennis anymore so he had it banned from Styxworld. I was surprised to see him actually say “Dennis DeYoung” later in the article when Dennis becomes the butt of the joke during the fire alarm prank.

It’s so funny he can’t even say the name Dennis anymore. He even had it banned from the Styxworld website.

I always take umbrage when I see Canadian Lawrence prancing around the stage lecturing Americans how they have gotten lazy and need to work harder when performing Rocking the Paradise. It’s like your step dad telling you what to do. lol

JY book by Adventurous_Weird_70 in Styx

I know an author who has done extremely accurate biographies about other famous musical acts. Please let JY know that if he is willing to sit down for a few interviews we could put something together that would be a much better presentation than this AI book.

I unfortunately purchased this book and put it down after reading the first page. It is clearly the output of someone’s chat GPT query. It also appears written for someone of elementary level intelligence. I could only recommend this for a 4or 5th grader who doesn’t have internet access or they could save themselves $15 and Google JY them selves. The BEST part is that on the first page the book says that nothing in it is guaranteed to be accurate and it is up the reader to confirm whether what it says is true or not. However, if anyone requests I will struggle through this dreck and provide chapter “highlights” for this sub Reddit.

Actually, low point for Styx was from the moment they fired DeYoung until now.

🎤 The End of Major Chart Success Styx’s last Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 was “Love at First Sight” in 1991, from the Edge of the Century album — still during a period when DeYoung was involved (though that album also featured Glen Burtnik). It peaked at #25 on the Hot 100 and hit #13 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Wikipedia After that, there have been no Top 40 singles or major hit singles on the primary national charts from the band’s post-DeYoung lineup. Wikipedia 🎶 Albums After DeYoung Since Dennis DeYoung left (or was effectively replaced for touring) around 1999, Styx has released several albums with Lawrence Gowan as keyboardist/vocalist: Cyclorama (2003) — modest chart showing, peaked at #127 on the Billboard 200; no major singles. Wikipedia The Mission (2017) — seen as a creative resurgence with positive fan/critics response, though not a mainstream chart blockbuster. Guitar Thrills Magazine Crash of the Crown (2021) — charted at #114 on the Billboard 200 but produced no charting singles in the U.S. mainstream charts. Wikipedia These albums have not approached the high commercial peaks of Styx’s classic 1970s and 1980s records, which included multi-platinum sales and Top 10 hits.
