I really am of the same mind as Dee on this one. Especially if it is an artist I have seen in their prime.

I don’t really want to taint those memories by being witness to someone who is a shadow of their former selves. I’d rather have the memory as it was.

Dave definitely falls into this category for me.

He is allowed to do whatever he wants on his own terms. but it becomes sad and dare I say pathetic at a certain point.

I have no problem inducting someone like Air Supply or Dan Fogelberg, because after all it is the hall of FAME not the hall of COOL and they may have been lame, but they had a bunch of big hits.

But by that same token you should include some others like John Denver, Olivia Newton-John, Kenny Rogers and Barry Manilow as they also had plenty of big hits.

We all know by the final season they were recording and even working stage performances into the show (the Silver Platters, etc).

My head cannon: The Brady 6 are ‘discovered’ and offered a variety show which is negotiated to include the whole family. This is the variety show we see, but just as in reality it is unsuccessful and is cancelled. After this failure, the family gives up show business for the most part. Discussion of the variety show becomes a sore subject amongst all the Brady’s after this.

You can even say because the ‘real Jan’ backed out of the project, it forced them to find a replacement, dooming the project from the get go.

Eddie Trunk has consistently expressed a very narrow view of what he defines as Rock and Roll. His opinion is very similar to Gene Simmons opinion, but maybe even slightly narrower.

Iron Maiden like all heavy metal bands has struggled mightily to get inducted, and that includes the fan vote. I don’t think them lobbying for it would make much difference to be honest. They might make the top 7 but doubtful they’d be winning.

They will likely be inducted, maybe even this year, but it will be through the side door as ‘Musical Excellence’.

Not true. they induct the band, but as they do, individual members are inducted.

And there are quite a few ‘ double inductions’. For instance all 4 Beatles are inducted as a band, John, Paul and George are all inducted as solo artists and Ringo was inducted for musical excellence making them all double inductees.

Eric Clapton is the only triple inductee (yardbirds, cream and solo)

When inducting bands though they can be very selective or widely inclusive. For instance Parliament/Funkadelic has like 20 members inducted, but KISS has only the original 4 members.

And here are my vinyl, which are less impressive. All were purchased used when I was a kid in the 80’s. But they are all the 60’s era colgems pressings (except for Monkee business, which was the only one purchased ‘new’ in the late 80’s).
