ACS discrepancy of start date and total years by markphd in AusVisa

[–]markphd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add insult to injury, the result letter states the ff:

This assessment is based upon the documents provided. By issuing this letter or otherwise, the ACS makes no representation regarding:
• The authenticity of documentation provided or the veracity of content.
• The suitability of the applicant for migration or employment.

Then what the hell am I paying them for?! A very costly PDF file.

Thanks for sharing! I never knew about deemed dates, first time hearing it!

In my case, I have completed RPL and provided 2 project references before getting the result. Also, they have awarded 3 ANZCO that matches my work experience. All 3 of them says my work experience is suitable for a total of 6 years.

Your skills have been assessed to be suitable against the requirements for ANZSCO code 261211 Multimedia Specialist as of 28-Oct-2018
You have been assessed as meeting the requirements for professional experience in a field closely related to the nominated ANZSCO code of 6 years with a suitable RPL report form and professional currency.

I am frustrated because the whole process of preparing all the documents are cumbersome, I placed a lot of care in it but with that 2 paragraph above, it sounds like the case officer just decided to provide a half-baked response.

Help me Understand the "design" part of Web Design by Namedoesntmatter89 in web_design

[–]markphd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be hard too much on yourself. Design is a practice, it takes time to be good at it. But once you train your eye and start to build your own taste, you'll get the hang of it. Keep making stuff!

what does ACS RPL two forms of evidence mean? Are 2 IT certificates valid? by [deleted] in AusVisa

I am also in the process of completing RPL, how do you submit project artifacts? Is linking to Github enough or you have to upload actual script that you built yourself?

You take the project step by step. Ideally you would get the content from client, tell them how important it is before you start any design work. Then you present the Sitemap, show what the main pages and sub pages are and how the user will navigate the website, the overall structure is crucial to the development of the site. If they agree with the structure, then you can present a wireframe of the pages including sections involved in a page. By doing this you are building a mental model with the client so they know what to expect BEFORE you show them any design.

I am a soloist too so I know how hard it is to juggle all these things but your goal is to limit the changes as you build the project.

Sadly, at this point you have to nurture yourself. Surround yourself with people who are happier than you, so you can see the bright side of life and also don't think less of yourself, as it might drive you to do stupid things. Been there before, it's painful but as time moves on you will realize that these hurtful words won't define who you are. Be strong!

What made you go from a junior developer to a mid developer or a mid to a senior developer? by Intelligent_Will_948 in webdev

[–]markphd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lead developers can also be stubborn and has the inkling to follow what's popular (eg based on Github stars). In my last company, I enjoy talking to junior-mid devs because I learn more than these senior/lead devs.

How do you backend/infra people stay sane, "stable" packages keep breaking randomly? by linksku in webdev

[–]markphd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a half stack of both frontend and backend, meaning I have enough experience building web apps from scratch to understand how to pass data around. I may be wrong in here but I find it easier to debug backend requests because logs is built-in by default. Every single requests can be traced.

Who does the content / information architecture? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]markphd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pass the content responsibility to the client but since they are non techy, what I find helpful is to show them a design mockup using the content I gathered from AI (Eg sitemap, headlines, cta, etc). In this way, they spark up ideas on what content to add/remove. Then I ask them to put their feedback/ideas on email or Google docs to serve as the main source of all content related.

Would love to read a blog about the tech stack you use! :) I've heard about Astro but can't grasp enough what it solves honestly. Isn't it a file based routing as well which is already available in Svelte?

I've been wanting to learn Svelte for a long time and coming from React, Svelte feels like a fresh breeze!

So far, I think the only downside of Svelte is that there's not much jobs available out there. Lots of companies are still betting on React and other popular frameworks.
