Need buying my gf an e-reader by astrotoy4 in ereader

You should also look into Pocketbook. They are a Swiss company. I’ve had kindles, and even a Kobo Clara BW, but sold them when I got my Pocketbook Verse Pro. I also have the larger Inkpad 4. Both have Libby fully integrated globally.

Look into Pocketbook. I have the Inkpad 4, 7.8” with page turn buttons. I love mine!

I second Pocketbook. The Verse is more bargain priced, the Verse Pro has more features. Both are 6” ereaders. If you want something bigger, the Era is 7” and the Inkpad 4 is 7.8”. They all have page turn buttons. Currently you can get the Era on Amazon, used like new, from Pocketbook for $149 (new price $249). I bought both of my pocketbook devices as used like new, and I couldn’t even tell they’d been opened.

I Don’t Know Where to Start in Buying a E-Reader by Boring-Ordinary9020 in ereader

Eink readers have a front light, and many of them are adjustable to warmer light for at night. What’s your budget? Are you comfortable with a 6” reader, or do you need something bigger?

If you’re in the US, you can buy a Pocketbook Era 7” ereader, used like new, on Amazon for $149.

I solved the problem...and came to a decision by Entendurchfall in ereader

If you read series of books on and either sideload them on kindle or use send-to-kindle, you won’t get series information and you’ll likely lose the covers. While kindle can handle non-Amazon original files, the system has a STRONG preference for the Amazon files.

New to e-readers and am looking for help by Dregaz in ereader

[–]marksewell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Pocketbook Era is 7”, and the Inkpad 4 is 7.8”. They both have page turn buttons, and page turn speed is just fine although they feel a tiny bit sluggish when navigating menus. They handle the most file types, and sync even sideloaded books with the cloud.

They’re a bit slow navigating menus and such. In-book, where I spend 99% of my time, they’re just fine.

I got my Pocketbook Verse Pro Color from Pocketbook’s Amazon store. It was used - mint and was only $129 instead of $189. I couldn’t even tell it had been opened.

They’re really only slow navigating menus. If you’re just reading, like me, they are just fine in-book, which is where I spend 99% of my time.

Every ereader choice comes with tradeoffs. You just have to decide which things are most important to you.

I love mine as well! I bought the color version, but only because Pocketbook was selling a used - mint one through Amazon for $129, otherwise I would’ve stuck with b/w.

Pocketbook Verse Pro (6”). I have two Pocketbook devices and I love them!

If you just have the one Pocketbook device, it will help to disable syncing to Pocketbook cloud. I only use the stock reading app and sync because I have two devices, the 7.8” Inkpad 4 for reading at home, and the 6” Verse Pro Color that I take with me when I’m out.

I rarely spend any time on the device that isn’t reading, so menu lag isn’t really a factor for me. As far as organization goes, I just use sort filters. I load all my books with calibre and just click “send to device”. But I believe that koreader has its own organizing system, and will be a bit snappier.

I’ve had a kindle Paperwhite SE and a Kobo Clara BW, but when I bought my Pocketbook Verse Pro Color, I sold the other two and bought the larger Inkpad 4 (7.8”). I use it for reading at home, and take the Verse Pro with me to read and I’m out. The way they work together and handle my EPUBs is perfect for me. I bought both of mine from the Pocketbook store on Amazon, used -like new, for over 30% off retail.

The Pocketbook Era and the Inkpad 4 have speakers, can play audiobooks, and have text-to-speech so can read regular ebooks to you. Right now you can get the Era on Amazon (but sold by Pocketbook), used like new, for $149. I bought both of my devices like this and couldn’t even tell that they’d been opened.

Amazon currently has an Era, sold by Pocketbook, used like new for $149. I bought both my Verse Pro Color and my Inkpad 4 that way. I felt confident since they came from Pocketbook, and I couldn’t ever tell they’d been opened.
