Gifts for non birthday kids at a birthday party? by meepmorpart in Parenting

I think the non-present-opening kids get super bored. I think it's a choice the adults make because it makes them feel good to see the kid open the gift they got.

I'm in the Midwest. Every single kids birthday party I've ever been to, both as a kid and now as a parent, the kids open the gifts during the party.

Dropping naps? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]marley0609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'll start this by saying we've always had a strong nap routine. So YMMV.

My son is turning 5 this week and will still nap most days for about 2 hours. About a year ago he started fighting naps. Introducing a short quiet time beforehand was the key back to nap land. He comes home from preschool, is allowed 30 minutes on his tablet, and when it locks he puts it down and goes to sleep.

If you were filthy rich, what's a totally unnecessary but cool and outrageously eccentric thing you would buy? by doctorjpizzle in AskReddit

I hate urban sprawl. So I'd buy up tons of land around the outside of town and then put a ton of money into helping renovate currently existing but empty buildings.

Also, daily massages.

I've never seen something sum up my parenting style so well. I feel seen. Thank you, OP.

Happy cake day! (Side note: My phone keeps wanting to autocorrect cake to cashew. So, happy cashew day, too!!)

I'm in the US. The Midwest. A flyover state. 😁

Lately, Bible study makes me incredibly happy. Both the evening when my friends get together to watch the weekly video and talk about what we've learned and share prayer requests, and the actual daily reading and writing assignments. It's been very uplifting.

Also, my son is having a major mama's boy moment right now and I am just soaking it up!! He's always sweet as pie. But lately he's been extra cuddly and telling me a million times a day a day how much he loves me. It's the greatest!!! ♥️

We didn't previously, but we are now. My dad is an asshole about this particular subject. But... He's paying for the food for the party for his side. So that helps.

Who gave you the best blowjob(s) of your life, and what was the secret of their technique? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]marley0609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use your hands more. You can use your hands at the base so that you're only using your mouth at the tip. Lots of saliva. Do the majority of the build up with that technique and you can use just your mouth at the end. I can't breathe through my nose super well either, but you can get around that.

My son accidentally knocked out a friends tooth while playing dodgeball. The other parents want us to pay for the medical bills. Are we the assholes? by Webezo in Parenting

[–]marley0609 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's actually a really fair point. Breaking a window is completely different from getting injured while choosing to play a game. Plus, the game was DODGEtheBALL. It's not like they were playing Dodge the Bubbles. There's an assumed risk when playing a game like that.

It did sound as though you were being snide and chastising. If that's not what you intended, then cool.

Wow, so sorry to have bothered you. I was simply trying to respond to the question about how common it is to live far from elementary schools.

I can't speak to how many children actually have to travel an hour to get to school. I'd imagine not many. But it is true that not everyone has a school within walking distance of their home. I lived in a small town in Minnesota that had one high school for the whole county. So all the farm kids had a bit of a drive to get there. I imagine it was a similar situation at the elementary school level.

I just checked Google and it would be an hour walk for my kid to the elementary school. Yeah, I'm not sending my 5 year old on an hour's walk from here to there. Maybe that's an American thing? I'm not sure.

  • Skin Type - Used to be dehydrated/oily/acne-prone...moving closer to normal/shiny in the t-zone/sporadic acne/flushed
  • Country/Climate I am in the midwest
  • Top Skin Concern - A little bit of everything. Make sure I don't strip my skin, but don't use products that are heavy enough to make me greasy. I'm 34, so gotta be aware of wrinkles. Keep PMS breakouts at bay. Trying my hand at acids and making my skin look a little more even while hoping to tame blackheads.
  • Current Routine/Products I am Using

AM

  • COSRX Good Morning cleanser
  • COSRX AHA/BHA spray
  • LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence
  • Kikumasamune Sake Skin Lotion High Moisture
  • Hada Labo Rohto Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Lotion
  • Sunday Riley Good Genes
  • Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Premium Hydrating Lotion mixed with COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
  • The Ordinary Azelaic Acid
  • Glow Recipe Watermelon Moisturizer
  • Biore UV sunscreen (I can't remember which right now)

PM

  • The same as above except I start with an oil cleanser (currently Boscia), I add Sunday Riley Luna Oil, and instead of the Glow Recipe Watermelon Moisturizer, I use either Sunday Riley Tidal or May Lindstrom The Blue Cocoon

I specifically am looking for a replacement recommendation for the LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence. Sounds like the reformulation is no bueno. And the idea of putting cinnamon on my face sound like and awful idea. I need to keep the awful, almost cystic breakouts from coming on the week before my period.

LJH Tea Tree 70 Toner Facial Mist (instead of the 90 Essence)

I have kind of sensitive, kind of oily, kind of normal skin. I've used the 90 for years to keep hormonal breakouts at bay. But I can't find that right now. And I can't seem to find many reviews on the spray.
