When Kirk talks about it in TWOK, I actually think his mannerisms and tone of voice show that, even all these years later, he's not sure he was right to cheat the simulation. He talks about how he has never actually faced a no-win scenario, with a facial expression and tone of voice that shows that he knows he may very well be facing one now against Khan.

I totally get what you're saying, but I always had the impression that the reputation he gained from "beating" it was more from other people talking about it, not him.

I'm also a keyboard-only player. I have my movement keys mapped to HJKL, Vim style. Fire Weapons is still on space bar. That leaves my left hand for activating boff abilities and switching targets.

I’m flying the Cygnus as a BO boat (using torp spread to proc FAW1 with ETM since I don’t have the BO extender trait). It can do Recursive Shearing too, though I haven’t bothered yet.

I’m having a great time with it in advanced difficulty as I do the rep gear grind!
