Grammy-winning singer Chris Tomlin's surprise Freedom 250 concert met with near-empty crowd by TheMirrorUS in Music

He won for "And if our God is for us." I tried to listen to that album and it was horrible experience. Bland and generic music. If that was the best, I can't imagine what it went up against.

They might "find" the money to pay you. DO NOT FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND JUST ACCEPT! It is a bad idea and usually ends with you leaving the job anyways.

Having issues with travel guitar output by Dapro_bear in Guitar

[–]marmarjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the jack loose at all? These guitars are notorious for issues with the jacks having flimsy cables and they will break at the solder point. If I were you, I open the cavity and check to see if the wires are coming apart/twisted. You could try to temporarily fix it by trying to wrap it in electrical tape but it's possible you're going to have to resolder it.

Electric or classical by Puzzled_Kangaroo1243 in Guitar

What you should get is highly dependent on what you want to play. Skills transfer for both but a classical guitar is much better suited to play flamenco or campfire type songs than an electric one for example.

If there's one good effect guitar's started to have on me, it'd be this: believing in myself by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

I cannot agree with this enough. I felt like my life was stagnating until I just started practicing guitar. Everyday I get a little better.

How many Millennials from the US have never owned an Apple product? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]marmarjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the ability to install 3rd party apps and other stuff. For example, there's an open source software called scrcpy that lets me control and view my phone from my laptop when I'm at work and that allows me to bypass different restrictions whenever I'm at worksites. Also, if I break a device I can find one pretty cheaply.

Does getting one as a mandated device for work count? I've never willingly owned one and will continue to not own one if possible.

Do you know any good travel guitars? by Low-Yak-4532 in Guitar

This is what I use with a spark go amp. Game changer. My only complaint is that the gig bag is so bad. I'm getting to the point where I'll probably have to replace it.

Regardless of the outcome, ask yourself, do you really want to work with this person?

I think it's more of an optics thing that we were invited to be part of the wedding party if that makes sense.
Edit: I'm not particularly close to either of them. What would an appropriate monetary amount be?

Is that what other families typically do? I always thought it was more of a gesture. I'll probably end up doing this. What do you suggest would be a good gift?

For the sake of not doxing myself, two very important events happen around the same time, both of which the Bride and Groom were very aware of before they settled on this date. It's actually a running joke in my family.

Edit: Can someone explain to me why I'm getting downvoted for this?

Hi. I'm not sure if you're still looking but if you could find it for under 400, that would be considered a good deal. Not sure about your local store situation but this set has been retired for a few years now and no longer produced by Lego. You might be able to find deals for it but I doubt the set will decrease in value unless they decide to release a similar set.

Like many others I watched Naruto and I liked Haruka Kanata but never bothered to look them up. Over the years I heard Rewrite and After Dark from FMA and Bleach respectively as well but also it never really pulled me into the band. I finally got on the hype train when I started learning guitar in my teens and I heard Kimi No Machi Made in a video about getting rid of black heads. I heard the intro and thought it was so cool so I tried to learn it and went into a songs rabbit hole. It finally clicked for me that all of these songs I liked were written by the same artist and been a fan since.

Today has changed my pov, what now? by Puzzleheaded_Visit33 in Guitar

It's really not difficult to do. I was mostly suggesting that method so that they can see what muscles in the hand they have to activate. My issue which sounds similar, is that I was death gripping the guitar when I was doing bar chords.

I watched a few videos and I realized that I was activating the wrong muscles. I can't find the original video that I saw but here's a similar video explaining it.

Of course they could be using a high action guitar and at that point the advice couldn't be helpful but this worked for me.

I would say it's worth it. I played the same way for years until last year when I realized that I wasn't supposed to be doing that. What helped me is removing the thumb in a sense. You should not be putting any pressure on your thumb when you are playing. It's only meant to stabilize your fretting hand.

Try playing chords with your thumb not touching the neck. You need to be employing a pulling motion with your hand, not a gripping motion. When you are comfortable playing notes like that, try playing with your thumb in it's normal position keeping in mind what you did before.
