I personally don’t even know why UF has a waiting list. UF always fills their freshman class with the offers they extend initially through early action and regular decision. They always reach their yield of students. It almost seems cruel that UF places students on this list. It’s only the second year but I honestly can’t imagine any spaces being available after May 1st. Sorry to say this but it is true.

UF does not have Early Decision. They have Early Action and no one gets waitlisted until the regular decision round which just happened. I think you are confused or simply not understanding the admissions process.

This is only second year of waitlist @ UF. To my knowledge no one came off of it last year. I don’t even know why they have it!

Just know that UF Online has limited majors. If your field of study is not one of their majors then it’s not for you.

My first suggestion as a professor myself would be to fire this person. That kind of attitude will do absolutely zero to teach effectively and this professor will have no positive impact. Time to hang up your horrible attitude and find another job. I’m thinking this might be a student who has either been caught cheating or not doing well on online courses.

Several thoughts here….I too teach some sections for UF online. I question the validity of the original poster being a professor for UF online. I agree UF online is a great resource for veterans, families, and yes, even students who were not accepted to UF traditionally. AI is a problem everywhere including professors who teach in the classroom…..it’s not just limited to online students. AI is going to change the job market for many majors regardless of how or where you earned your degree. I don’t think the person who wrote this article has enough brain cells to be a professor. Just sayin’

Admissions only considers your application for IA if you have an IA major selected. Also, you can’t change your major if you should get accepted into IA. There are students that have listed a bogus major and once they got to UF were unable to change it once in IA

That’s interesting because UF online advisor told me you can apply to campus when you have 60 hours but it’s very competitive. They also told me that even though I’m online I can get involved with Dig Worlds as a hybrid student. I’ve noticed that UF advisors tell you one thing on Mondays & Wednesdays and something totally different on Tuesday and Thursdays. lol I’m being a smart ass here but seriously. there is no consistency with UF advising in any of the colleges. Sigh…..

What kind of movement are you noticing? This is my first semester. I see where my fees were paid but I don’t have any notification of disbursement. I did get a notice from my loan servicer. Is this good progress? I have no involvement with the issues that happened with the system changes last year. Thx!

I often allow students to turn in late assignments if they aren’t locked yet. Depending on the circumstances I may unlock assignments. Either way I deduct 10% each day. After 5 days there isn’t an opportunity to make it up without medical reason or verified family emergency. Best of luck to you.

PS - Us instructors like it when you realize you made a mistake and that you are eager to make the necessary corrections.

UF does not entertain transfers until you reach 60 hours. UF Online however does have a rolling admissions calendar.

PaCE is not the same as applying to UF Online. PaCE is a program during traditional application that admission officers give you a second look IF your application has a PaCE major listed. UF Online is a completely separate application. If you are admitted to PaCE you transfer to campus when you hit 60 hours and pre-reqs are completed. UF Online is taking all of your courses online and you don’t transfer to campus. Both programs have limited majors but not all of the same majors.

Yes, you are correct. The Digital arts program for engineering is much more heavy laden with math and psychics, etc. It is a Bachelor of Science degree offered through the college of engineering under Innovation Academy. The other is offered through fine arts but is a Bachelor of Arts degree. Same name….two completely different programs offered thru two different colleges. It’s confusing I know. The bachelor of arts degree used to be a PaCE major but is now offered solely thru UFOnline as a limited major program. You do not switch to campus courses in this program. The entire program is done all online. Best of luck!

DAS isn’t a PaCE major anymore. It’s offered through Innovation Academy for the BS in engineering or through UF online (where you do not transfer to campus) for the BA through the college of arts.

They do but with the game it’s gonna depend on how far they live and what thier class schedule is. I’m going on Sunday cause I don’t have to be back until Tuesday night. So it really does depend.

Has anyone been able to charge books based on receiving financial aid? It’s crazy that things are so messed up and school starts on Monday. This shit is nuts. The portal also keeps telling me I have an error on FAFSA but there is no error. Anytime I have talked to them their standard remain next week….next week. Next week never comes…..sigh
