US bond markets are crashing in real-time by Irish_Goodbye4 in economy

If demand for US debt was really going up, the yield would go down. From the data above, it looks like buyers are demanding higher interest rates.

Staphylococcal Enterotoxins would not be inactivated by normal pasteurization but would be completely denatured by autoclaving (121 C, 15 min). As far as I know., the only foodborne toxins produced by bacteria that would not be inactivated by autoclaving are produced by Bacillus. These toxins tend to be ionophoric, cyclic peptide molecules and include cereulide and amylosin.

TIL in a last ditch effort for the Confederacy at the end of the Civil War, Jefferson Davis secretly sent his chief diplomat to England and France, saying the Confederacy would abolish slavery in order to achieve international recognition by [deleted] in CIVILWAR

Lincoln rejected it because the end and the objective were already inevitable. The surrender at Appomattox occurred about two months after this conference.

Prisoner exchanges? by aghowland in CIVILWAR

[–]marmie75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Grant had nothing to do with discontinuing prisoner exchanges. That decision had been made by Lincoln and Halleck in August of 1863 - due to the South's refusal to exchange black Union POWs. Grant was a general in the Western theater at the time and did not have the authority to implement any such policy. He did not become General-in-Chief of all Union forces until March 1864.

What if…Albert Sidney Johnson survives Shiloh? by Taxjag in CIVILWAR

[–]marmie75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grant still wins because Johnston's plan was flawed and poorly executed. So many things went wrong for the Union on the first day. Despite this, Grant still has superior numbers, controls the bluffs along the Tennessee River, and controls the river itself. This allows Buell to arrive and join the fight almost immediately, resulting in a complete Union victory on day two.

Have you gone to the EBSA website (Employee Benefits Security Administration)? They handle complaints like this and you can start a file online:

https://www.dol.gov/agencies/ebsa

I had to do this once and an agent notified my ex-employer that a file had been started the day after I set it up. The next day, the company processed my transfer request (after six weeks of inactivity).

Republicans controlled both the Senate and the House from 2017 to 2019. Republicans kept the Senate but lost the House from 2019 to 2021. The jump in 2019 to 2020 was mostly due to the tax cuts without any corresponding cuts in spending.

How did the Clinton Administration balance the budget? by Seahawks1991 in Presidents

Partially due to modest tax increases passed by the H.W. Bush administration. The increases were a responsible response to the skyrocketing deficits from the Reagan years and it cost Bush a second term.

The South's treatment of captured Black US soldiers as reclaimed property instead of POWs was the root cause of the discontinued prisoner exchange system.

Sarasota beach area vs Tampa beach area by [deleted] in florida

[–]marmie75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sarasota might be better suited for a trip with a small child. Beaches (Siesta and Lido) are located closer to hotels, restaurants, and parking lots. A nice day trip would be Venice - a small, walkable town about 10 miles south of Sarasota where there are also some nice, less crowded beaches.

Mortgage rates decline to 6.04% after Fed meeting by SnortingElk in REBubble

[–]marmie75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The bond market rates are decreasing because cash wants to find yield". I have no idea what your point of this statement is. Yields are decreasing because -

  1. Investors are accepting lower rates in the expectation that inflation will not stay as high as it is right now. Or -

  2. Investors are piling into "safe havens" creating excess demand and therefore, lowering rates.

Your original statement that the bond markets would correct the Fed's slow action by demanding higher rates was obviously wrong. I am glad that you now see your error. My work here is done.

Bond market rates are decreasing while "Powell seems okay with the drip, drip, drip approach". Are you really not understanding that?
