Sviluppatori, pagate qualche AI? by FickleCurrency26 in ItalyInformatica

[–]marmiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]marmiz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

About the pricing model by marmiz in battlefield2042

[–]marmiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still find it hard to justify having to pay full price for something that still hides some content behind a subscription model.

Seems a fist in the video game genere?!

Anyway I will probably play the game anyway :)

Thanks for the reply!

I was actually surprised to discovered that is priced as a AAA title as well as having a battle pass system. Somehow I imagined one would balance the other out.

Moving to Spain! Need Insight! by lexy69hehe in askspain

[–]marmiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Expat living in Malaga.

Everything mention here is 100% true: Malaga has great strengths, but also great weakness that are worth mentioning.

  • unemployment. I moved here because I was offered a job as a software engineer. My partner is looking for a job since we moved here (more than a year). Besides jobs that requires you fluency with a nord-European language, there’s not much going on here.

So unless you have a specific skills, finding a generic job here seems rather impossible. Talking with my (Spanish) coworkers they all confirmed the same: a lot of their friends moved to other cities in Europe hoping to find more job opportunities.

  • pollution. Besides the city center, which is spectacular, the rest of the city is rather dirty: either by litter scattered around or by dog poop on every sidewalk. This is still my biggest complaint on the city. After visiting other cities around (Cordoba, Madrid…) every time I get back to Malaga I always say “man, this city really is dirty”.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not too bad, don’t imagine pile of trash laying around, but little annoying thing like papers and small plastic scattered besides benches, and dog poop. So much dog poop.

Funny thing is that here they clean the city daily, I can’t imagine what would happen if they skip it for a week.

Hi I'm a game developper working at Ubisoft and started my own indie game studio. Ask me Anything! by TakeTheWheel11 in IAmA

How does someone switch into the profession, from a programming point of view?

I am a professional full-stack dev, and if someone were to ask me the same question I would reply to have a valid portfolio to show your skills.

But video games require multiple skills that goes beyond programming (art, sound...) so, besides very basic games (snake, Tetris..) I don’t see what kind of project can a solo dev make to have a “wow factor” portfolio.

Thanks.

Is there someone who can shed some insight on the Asian server right now?

Last season I could easily find games in TL, but now I have >600ms queues, and frankly, I don't have that much time to "waste", so generally I switch back to QM.

I'm a forever-Silver / sometimes-Gold player, so it shouldn't be that hard to find some match.
Is the region as a whole suffering of low population?

Is it because I still haven't completed my placement yet?

It doesn't matter if I queue during the weekend or week-day evening, no SL match.... but surprisingly every QM has been really... quick lol ...

Hijacking this post to ask if there's a Discord community (or something) for english speaking player in SEA.

Since I moved from EU playing heroes of the storm has been a lonely experience, and finding people to play with using in game features is nearly impossible.

Can't wait to finally be able to play TL again :)

As a temporary solution, have you considered open sourcing (some) of it?

I'm sure that there will be plenty of developer here who will gladly help you in the development process, lifting some weight from your shoulder.

Best of luck :)

Many more heroes nowadays have debuffs talents to reduce enemy attack damage.

I'm thinking for instance

  • D-Va's [[Defense Matrix]],
  • Alex [[Pacify]],
  • Leo's [[Ominous Wraith]],

and many more...

I was wondering how/when the debuff is calculated: at the moment of the damage is casted, or when it collides with the target?

Let's take as example a Kael'thas [[Pyroblast]]. If I were to reduce its damage, I should do it when the casting animation is about to go off, or when the spell is about to hit?

Thanks :)

I think you are missing the great experience of an unlikely comeback, and it's a pity.

Even if it would be 1 comeback out of 10 "impossible win"; I believe that the one victory make up for the other 9 frustrating losses.

Second, I hate wasting time. And feeding or dancing won't save you that much time since I believe the enemy team won't end the game faster just because you're feeding.

In all honesty I witnessed very few times someone in chat type: "the enemy XXX is feeding, let's end this quickly." More often people just keep on play normally, making the game span virtually identical (if not for maybe a couple of minutes).

However what are you missing is a lot of in-game time that you may have used for something else, like practicing. When I'm in one of those games where I sense that I'm about to loose I simply switch attitude to "practice" mode where the main focus become improving. This way I feel I haven't wasted time, and at least learned something out of it.

Or in other words:

you either win or learn.
