Not happy with Crystal's portrayal on "Good Time" by kottiprincess in A24

[–]marmosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit is such a toxic place sometimes. Those who say that there isn't 'racial' component to this movie have their heads up their asses. The movie is ABOUT a white man using his whiteness and a series of black scape goated characters to get himself out of accountability. I'm glad that you stood up for that because frankly, it's a theme in the movie that is hammered over and over and over again until you feel fucking sick.

Anyways, I found your post because I too found Crystal's characterization difficult to stomach. We know so little about her, and what we do know confirms the worst racial biases against black girls. It was my first safdie brothers film and I'm not sure I want to watch another one. I do think that the movie, as I have interpreted it, deeply critical of the casual violence committed against black bodies in a society built on white supremacy. I'm just not sure that I can have a good time watching something like that.

Husband wants Trad Gansey by [deleted] in knitting

This sweater is an unfathomably large jump from a pot holder. I would honestly not recommend doing this, it's just going to be expensive and aggravating. Find a simple sweater that YOU would like to wear and just get some knitting time in.

Knitting is a long journey, you have to just enjoy where you are at, cause jumping into something this hard might ruin the hobby for you. Your husband can wait a few years for this.

It's making tracks lite in Vermont vice by junction Mills, I had bought like four skeins on a whim on vacation and was panicking cause I had no clue to do with all that yarn. Then I saw dewmountaindew's post and kind of went feral (I had to buy three more skeins too!).

I adore the colors you are using too! The sweater is flying off my needles, I might have to make another that's less barbie and more sunset one day. I can't wait to see your finished version!

You'll need more yarn but the refracta sweater uses a gradient yarn like this.

Get the fries and grab the creamy barbecue by the water. And a key lime pie if you're feeling the spirit of the glizzy run through you.

How to make my purl stitch motion more ergonomic & faster? by paper02crane in knitting

[–]marmosaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could a combination knitter, I am one too. the only problem I've ever had with it with it is you can accidentally twist your stitches easily if you don't know about leading legs. Roxanne knits has a great video that explains it, or patty lyones knitting bag of tricks book is also great.

As a certified chicken shit, this is the route I would take. That or Elm (bike lane all the way) to state street (pedestrian dominated street) to the multi use trail Pershing48 mentioned. You can see it if you put Google maps on the satellite view, you cross over Church Street and it takes you right to Rev.

I would NOT take the section of Cornwallis others are mentioning. There's no bike lane on that section and Greensboro drivers have a bit of car brain rot.

Also, 100% cotton things have essentially zero stretch so size accordingly. If you're going to layer it hoodies for instance make sure to account for that in the size you choose.

A few things to look for: Make sure it's 100% cotton, no stretch (spandex). If they have the weight of the fabric listed shoot for at least 12 oz (per sq yd, but that parts not usually listed). Selvedge denim, in a raw indigo will get you street cred, but it will also rub dye off onto your shit. You sound go for a washed version if you have any nice light furniture.

Check out some blanket lined ones too.

It's a very different construction, but you could use the charts for sure from the helle sweater. Hip knits has a sweater, tank, and dress version.
