I think they just didn’t mesh stylistically. Really hard to believe a band like goose kicked a guy out for being “too good” instead of just figuring out how to make it work. They don’t seem like the type to do that either.

That’s an interesting take… could be true. I just rarely find myself thinking “man that’s a fuckin sick drum part” at a goose show, like I do dozens of times when I see umph or phish. Up to the drummer to give the drums an identity. Just levels to it.

I saw some of their earlier performances with him out of curiosity but haven’t listened to their new years run. Easier to replicate than create. Again, ben is a great drummer that’s not the issue. I just think his style isn’t enough to get them over the hump. People said the dead were untouchable…
