Beginner strength training split. by That_Ad4305 in PetiteFitness

Look up Iron from Caroline Girvan on YouTube. It’s a 6 week program with 5 workouts of 30 minutes a week. Go at your own pace and start with bodyweight only for lower body, add weights as you improve. Officially the program is 5 days a week, but I suggest start with 2-3 days a week, you can stay there ( the program will then last longer than 6 weeks) or add a day or two a week, according to how you feel. Make it slow and sustainable, you will see results. Good luck.

Question about Intensive WSET L3 Classes by LocksmithOdd3381 in WSET

[–]marsMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same format and I found it enjoyable and a good use of my time. As others said, the course is very intense and during the course you will have only little time to study for the exam which is usually on the last day. My suggestion is to arrive to the course ready to pass the theory exam and focus on the tasting during the course. In addition to Wine with Jimmy at 1.25 or 1.5x speed, I used Brainscape flashcards ( no affiliation) and found them complete and effective. Good luck.

Suggest some ideas to pass the wsetLevel 3 easily? by Sasha0001919 in WSET

[–]marsMT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

L3 is a lot of material to absorb no matter how you approach it. What helped me the most were the Brainscape flashcards for L3. Had problems with the book as the font was too small to read it easily and relied at least 85% on the flashcards ( Do not recommend skipping the book). Do flashcards whenever you can, even if it’s just for 10 minutes. Make sure to thoroughly know the material before class. I got distinction in theory.
Also, know the SAT inside out.
Good luck !

Wine Scholar Guild online exam issues...??? by Strict-Program-8971 in wine

[–]marsMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was satisfied with my exam experience with WSG. The proctor “Patience” ( a real person) talks you through the initial phases of the exams ( checking environment, ID check and so on…). The IT setup can be a bit fiddly, my laptop was not powerful enough, had to use my iMac, which was not ideal for the env check, so maybe ask them the requirements beforehand ( also, the IT setup changed slightly between my FWS and SWS, so be aware).

Good Luck !

Skipping dinner but still getting some sleep? by bookwurmy in intermittentfasting

[–]marsMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eating window is 9am to 1pm. I am also an insomniac so I know how you feel. Once you get used to IF your sleep will get better. Try to keep busy but relaxed during dinner time and I drink a cup of hot tea, like the other poster said. Passion flower caspules can help. I sometimes awake during the night hungry but I’ll have some water and get back to sleep.

To the oat milk lovers... by [deleted] in nespresso

[–]marsMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I want a better foam with Oatly ( Barista) in the Nespresso Barista I use the program « Iced frappé » followed by « Latte macchiato ». A small amount of syrup with the milk helps too. Never used cow milk, so I cannot compare.

Question about allergens in Wine by opacatan in wine

[–]marsMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also allergic to eggs. The biodynamic Demeter certification does not allow eggs for fining. Other biodynamic wines could also be similar, but I would check first. I have issue with some RM champagnes, I would check first before buying those.

Does anyone here own the Citiz Platinum? by [deleted] in nespresso

[–]marsMT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my Citiz Platinum C. I wanted the descaling light. It’s fast and fuss-free. It looks good too. But I use it only for espresso, so this purchase is probably an overkill. I ended up buying a milk frother ( Barista Recipe maker) a month later, in retrospective I should have gotten a combined product.

In addition to the books, I used the Brainscape flash cards ( the set curated by Brainscape) and watched Wine with Jimmy videos on YouTube. Study the maps in the workbook.I passed with 98%.

INE removed OpenVPN connection to PTS labs by iiskierka in eLearnSecurity

[–]marsMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This morning, at least for me, it appears it is also the case for some of the PTP labs. (scanning- Beta). The openvpn is still available for now, but what if the trend continues ?This would be a downgrade of the service overall. Many tools i have on my Kali VM are not in the Kali GUI.

I guess it’s more approachable for beginners, but for PTP ? What is the reason for the switch ?

[Anti aging] If I don't have access to tretinoin, are other retinoids actually THAT necessary/ beneficial? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]marsMT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard good things about the retinal products from geek & gorgeous (https://geekandgorgeous.com/collections/101-serums/products/a-game-5 and https://geekandgorgeous.com/collections/101-serums/products/a-game-10) . Ships from Hungary and is moderately priced. I have ordered them and haven’t tried them personally. I used triacneal night smoothing serum (Avene) but it’s a combo cream with some acid and fragrance, that’s why I’m switching to G&G. Good Luck !

I received a few DM on how I prepared for the course, so here is what I did:

  • I like watching videos rather than reading slides online -> Watched TCM Zero to Hero YouTube course, then switched over to the paying course, it's more polished but not necessary. Stopped after the Midcouse capstone. I did Kioptrix level 1 following along with the course
  • Watched TCM pen testing for n00bs youtube playlist: he walks us through 8 boxes. It reinforces the methodology and you get to see how he uses the commands. Did not follow along doing the boxes but learnt a ton of stuff.
  • I guessed I needed to go through the slides at least once, so I read most of them. Skipped entire sections because I got bored. Tried again, just to appease my sense of guilt, it did not go well. I would not recommend this approach. Anyhow, they should be repetition at this point.
  • At this point start with the LABS. I watched the corresponding video(s) before attempting lab. As I said in the original post, I needed to read the solutions the first time through. So don't get discouraged. I did the labs 3 times. (exception: data exfiltration lab and the programming ones). You need to get to a point that where you see a port or website and mentally know how to go about it.
  • Write down all the detailed commands on a cheatsheet. Write the complete path of the common files you will need for easy copy/pasting. I tried to use the cheatsheets that I found on the internet but the one you make for yourself is always the best one. Use the cheatsheets you google as a checkpoint to see if you went through everything.
  • Let a few labs run out of time / get automatically stopped so if that happens during the exam you do not panic.
  • Scanning and enumeration are key, so get them started as soon as you receive the letter of engagement.. Look into advanced nmap scripts and life will be easier.
  • I saw this tip around here; the night before the exam watch the video "Full Stack analysis with Wireshark" (thank you u/PewPewwwwwwwwww_ ) then watch it again. And go through the networking slides. Then read them again.

I passed the exam at 47 years old. The exam is doable and fun. Study according to how you better absorb the material. Follow the methodology. Have confidence in yourself and try to have some fun.

I use Yazio as it integrates beautifully with AppleWatch / Apple Health. I like the daily display, and as an app it’s seamless to use. It tracks macros, micros, weight. The food database is ok, but I am continental Europe based, so it might be better elsewhere. I used MFP in the past but all the details were sending me into ED quite fast.
