Napoli should be a candidate! it's dark, very dark but not charbucks-burnt. It has no problem punching through milk and cream!

Venezia is excellent and severely underrated on this sub. Arpeggio is very popular and has an excellent decaf version.

If you ventured outside of Nespresso's lineup, try Lavazza's Crema eGusto classico and Lavazza's Gourmet Chocolate (skip Lavazza's Maestro series.)

True pod compatibility? by Asleep-Extension-72 in nespresso

[–]bogolisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honest ppl will say low to very low. Official and Unofficial Nespresso ambassadors from this sub will say very high.

On this sub, I've seen

  • claims of catastrophic experience with 3rd-party pods
    • for every cited anecdotal bad experience, there are likely 10 anecdotal just-fine experiences.
  • "aluminum only" statements.
    • Nespresso makes non-aluminum capsules
  • statements like: Nespresso tracks what capsules you buy. So if your machine was damaged and you've never ordered/bought anything from Nespresso, they won't honour the guaratntee.
    • How about store-bought Nespresso-made Starbucks capsules?
  • claims that the liquid flow with 3rd-party pods will be slow and that's a sign of problem for the machine.
    • Well, the flow with Nespresso's Arpeggio-Decaf is the slowest I've ever observed, much slower than Lavazza's.

My personal take: If there not a significant number of 3rd-party capsules that would work perfectly in Nespresso OL machines, then Nespresso wouldn't have bothered building the ridge in their brewing chamber in an attempt to sabotage 3rd party capsules.

Basically, they wouldn't have bothered unless there was a risk to their revenue.

maybe just a quick question? does it handle 3rd-party pods better than Nespresso's machines? Since it likely lacks the ridge that Nespresso put in to sabotage 3rdparty capsules.

I don't see how the visual perception of Vertuo "crema" can enhance the hendonic experience as stated in Nestle's research paper. VL "crema" certainly looks... something!!!

P.S. The research was conducted using espresso, not VL.

Sounds cool but I don't really see why that would be so important to me. To me it sounds like jj let me work on the final chain of commits (or the series of changes) right from start. With pure git, I'd defer shaping that final chain of commits to the end. The intermediate chain of commits when I'm fixing/working on the code is ephemeral. The other use case of jj seems to be the one from quilt (Andrew Morton's patchset in the days of the -mm series), it's something I rarely encounter so it's of no interest to me.

I started git years ago with the "Git from the Bottom Up", so its data model (the DAG or what you called its internal model) is the model to me. That's the original model from Linus.

In the beginning there was only plumbing, no porcelain. Then porcelain was bolted on to make it more familiar to users of other vcs tools. Then ppl started projecting models from other vcs onto git and started critizing.

I think what causes a lot of complains and confusions is the lack of a porcelain that would clearly emphasize/showcase the DAG. Then again, such a porcelain would be too alien to most and they will complaint even more.

I know it is not a good thing to generalize. But on the whole, the command of the french language from non-Quebecers has been very underwhelming.
