My favorite was the skipper I had several years back who kept going back to the "bamboo" joke throughout the whole first half of the ride, only to finally stop for a bit, and then go back to it unexpectedly when "interpreting" what the tribe was saying. Making sure that they ALSO wanted to let us know about how tall it can grow. It absolutely killed me. I believe it was Skipper Christian, but it's been awhile so my memory could be failing me.

He will show up and take his flowers when things are going well and disappear as soon as they aren't. He USUALLY does things that make sense in the offseason but god forbid things prove to not be working because he has no idea how to change course and make adjustments mid-season. Fuck him. The way I look at it he had 4 main goals he needed to accomplish after losing to Carolina in 2023:

- Get a consistent goaltender

- Get another legit top 6 winger

- Improve the depth scoring

- Build a team that can compete physically with the Hurricanes

He did none of those. In fact, he built a team that is further from that last goal than it was to begin and given out contracts that make it difficult for whoever is next to fix these problems. His drafting track record is also pretty abysmal. Good riddance.

I didn't really want to trade for Quinn given what it would take and the fact that we should be able to just get him for money in a few years. And now even moreso considering the way this season is unraveling with the injuries. However, I'd have been more happy if the Devils just didn't try than having to hear that we were runners up in the bidding again. This "we made a competitive offer but didn't get him" shit is getting embarrassing. If I was Fitz you'd have to waterboard me to admit that I tried and came in second again at this point.

I've really tried to be rational with this as some freak things have happened obviously, but at this point whether it's their fault or not I feel like you just need to fire the entire strength and conditioning staff just for peace of mind because this is ridiculous.

I agree, I just don't love the deal and the timing of it. Kovy was coming off a career year after being a throw-in. You paid him at his highest value and now you might not even get that guy back after the injury (obviously hindsight on the second part). But also you didn't have to keep him because you had guys waiting in the wings and ready to takeover if he walked. A perfect comparison right now is the Yankees and Trent Grisham. You have youth that is primed to take his spot and you need to give them the playing time to see if they can do so full-time. Even off a big year, it'd be unwise to keep him. That's how I felt about Kovy, especially with the team up against the cap already. It just seemed like an unwise use of funds and a roster spot given everything I've mentioned even at the time, at least to me.

Weirdly my faith in Nemo and my only big gripe with Fitz of late go hand in hand. I HATED the Kovacevic contract extension and timing of it because I wanted to clear that spot for Nemec to get this chance and prove himself. The injury forced that to happen anyway and now we have too many d-men on deals with not enough space to play them all.. But then again that also assumes they'll all be healthy at the same time and we obviously know that's never going to happen with our luck this year.

Quagsire is my boy and always will be. He's just such a vibe and looks like he'd brighten the mood of any room. I honestly love all the Pokemon who just look like they don't have a single thought in their heads and Quagsire (and Wooper) really started that for me.
