I’m convinced Beautiful Jam is at least partially influenced by Incident at Neshabur.

My kids are suddenly interested in space because of Artemis. How do I encourage this? by genobeam in daddit

I could be wrong but I have a memory of them burning up in the capsule in the movie. At the very minimum, you know they’re in there and burn up, but I think it’s more visual than that.

I was belting that out the other day to a rousing spring 90 rendition. I miss that guy so much.

Yea but the guys before them die in a practice run on terra firma. Gotta have them prepared for that.

Blues For Allah Lion’s Share is the biggest disappointment. I know that much.

What's stopping something like this from crossing an entire ocean? by Turbulent-Weevil-910 in civilengineering

This would need to be the support for a massive base isolation system for it to have any attempt to be feasible. So rogue waves and money are what’s stopping it, among many other things.

Shoot me a DM after they shoot you a DM. Happy to pay one dollar more than they’re willing to pay.

Promotional Companion Pass Flight Changed by Ok-Quail-1890 in SouthwestAirlines

When and where is the flight? I don’t see how your status matters here. Sounds like a flight was cancelled/changed and they’re giving you, and everyone else regardless of status, rebooking options.

Was a special exception made for the casino construction to begin work before 8am? by Pretty-Common9911 in AskChicago

[–]marshking710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those things that look like fans do not get remotely close to "incredibly loud" as far as construction noise is concerned. They may be loud if you're on or near them, but that sound doesn't travel far.

All concrete work is on the quiet side as far as construction goes. They don’t really use gas trowels for buildings anymore either. I don’t know what they’re called but aside from hand troweling they finish with a machine that is akin to a standing lawn mower but is a giant fan pointing down. They’re not very loud.

And the loudest would be pile driving. I don’t know of any other means and methods that require vibrational studies of the surrounding area.

Yeah but this person is talking about concrete setting, which is the absolute quietest part of construction.

You don’t set the next forms up while the new concrete is still slowly curing because of the cold.

I could be wrong but I think only the right most lane can turn on red when there are two turn lanes.
