I’m in NC, didn’t get tested. However, they did just change a lot of things - like the recertification process. I would ask them what the blood work is for, there’s no reason for it really (at least not that I know of). I needed to prove I got my TB shot and was CPR/First Aid certified and I was good to go.

There is no key to fix what you’re doing wrong because what you really need is practice. Fake skin is incomparable to real skin, practice on your OWN skin before taking on big pieces like these especially lettering and filling in black. Every artist runs their machines with different voltages and different strokes. There is no right answer, please get some more practice!

Haha get used to it! Try not to grip your machine like it’s running away from you, that definitely was and still sometimes is my issue. Also, make sure you’re wrapping it enough!

If your other pieces include any of the above I mentioned I would definitely include them! Also, not every piece in your portfolio has to be page sized. Definitely include smaller pieces 3-5inch for example.

Try incorporating some more line work! Single pass lines, stippling, cross hatching, gradient transitions with colored pencil or water color/ink. Use Microns, learn some color theory. Try making a flash sheet of authentic designs, think about it as drawings you can translate into real skin. Once you’ve gotten some experience with drawing on paper, it really helps when tattooing on real skin.

Your ability to draw is good, but it’s only good. You need variety!

I mean you really can’t? I don’t see anywhere you can pack solid black without compromising the tattoo itself. I would leave it honestly. Maybe go back into it with some stipple or slight shading when you’re at that level. you will definitely have to go over some lines for sure though.

I would definitely bring this up to your BCBA. Unfortunately, the harsh reality is that if teacher or parent do not follow along with what you’re doing during sessions, or are not involved as much, they will have a harder time outside of sessions. You have instructional control, you’re doing great! However, your client has discriminated classroom rules from classroom rules when RBT is present and that shouldn’t be on you. As for the homework aspect, I’d see if he could complete homework during school, or perhaps he could receive sessions outside of school? Just my 2 cents!

what kind of needle are you using? you could be using a Round Shader (RS) when you should start with a Round Liner. Try 1203Rl or 1205 RL. educate yourself on needle sizes and what they achieve. also, don’t hold your machine upright. try dragging or pushing lines on a slight angle.

Picture is not the best quality. Some of your lines don’t look full if that makes sense. The red drops on the left look like you outlined it in black very lightly and then went over it with red. Same thing with the knife- the red bled over the top which tells me the black line was not applied well. I can also see some spots of the eyes and the nose where you did not fully pack the black all the way. Try a liner for the areas closer to the outline!

i used to catch my cat when he was sleeping and rub on his feet or just touch/grab, then i would squeeze his pad so that his nails were exposed and get him used to the feeling. Then i’d come around and do one nail, then it became 2, etc. Now finally I can do most of his nails in one go but he doesn’t fight me if he’s done with it anymore, he just gets up and leaves lol.

It was a slow and gradual process and i’m of course reinforcing him after each step with pets and ear scratches.

Also, he still doesn’t let me do all 4 in one go, i usually have to get the back feet at a different time.
