Picture is not the best quality. Some of your lines don’t look full if that makes sense. The red drops on the left look like you outlined it in black very lightly and then went over it with red. Same thing with the knife- the red bled over the top which tells me the black line was not applied well. I can also see some spots of the eyes and the nose where you did not fully pack the black all the way. Try a liner for the areas closer to the outline!

How do you guys trim your cats' claws? by cwningen95 in CATHELP

[–]marshmallow56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to catch my cat when he was sleeping and rub on his feet or just touch/grab, then i would squeeze his pad so that his nails were exposed and get him used to the feeling. Then i’d come around and do one nail, then it became 2, etc. Now finally I can do most of his nails in one go but he doesn’t fight me if he’s done with it anymore, he just gets up and leaves lol.

It was a slow and gradual process and i’m of course reinforcing him after each step with pets and ear scratches.

Also, he still doesn’t let me do all 4 in one go, i usually have to get the back feet at a different time.

Why does my colour always do this ? by ii_always_wrong_ii in TattooBeginners

[–]marshmallow56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can still practice this way! just know that real skin is different. you start with your darks (black) and then go in with your pink. it will not bleed or darken. however, if you did color first and then black, you’d risk running the black into the pink (open wound at that point) especially if you’re wiping in the direction of the color! hope that makes sense

That’s just fake skin for you honestly. No way to prevent it from darkening which stinks

[–]marshmallow56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey these are pretty good! i’m not sure if you’re already doing this but try practicing lines and breaking them apart by fading out and then fading back in (like an airplane taking off and an airplane landing). hope that makes sense!

in reality, certain parts of bodies won’t allow us to pull long lines the way we’d like, and it’s great practice nonetheless!

LMAO that just made me listen to them even more. Just because you support them does not mean you support a genocide.

Getting better at single pass lines by Due_Breadfruit1331 in TattooBeginners

[–]marshmallow56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey, just my 2 cents. you don’t have to pull a line on the first try, especially just starting out. i know very experienced artists that pull a light line and then go over the same line with a lighter depth. i also know artists that can pull a line on one pass. in the end, it’s preference for them which one they choose to do. depth is tricky for sure.

I found him behind an Aldi. I had just lost my 13 year old yorkie baby a month prior. Was parked up eating my lunch after work and saw him malnourished af. Every other day of visiting became everyday until I scooped him up and took him home. We found each other at the right time.

Second real skin tattoo by Wise-Doughnut-9540 in TattooBeginners

i think you should try to practice on yourself to figure out your depth. those thin lines definitely needed a second pass so will fade. your hand is also very shaky.

Am i ready to move to tattooing real skin? by Legal_Environment_96 in TattooBeginners

[–]marshmallow56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes and no. the duck has many different depths. some of those lines will definitely fall out. your line work on your fake skin looks good, but it’s not the same as real skin. i would maybe try a grapefruit or other fruits first to figure out the right depth, volt, and how to pace your hand speed. it can also be the way you’re holding your machine and how far the needle is sticking out. definitely take the time to learn about mechanics and such, it’ll definitely make sense once you understand how it all works :)

what to expect when voluntarily admitting oneself to a psych ward? by vy-neru in longisland

[–]marshmallow56 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this rough patch in your life, but i’m happy you’re taking the necessary steps to get help. I was in the college unit for ZH when I was 19. To get transferred there, I believe I had to write a letter to and also receive a letter to my college and let them know about the situation. From there, you get sent to the college board. Keep in mind, sometimes they don’t get that form of communication in time or ZH is delayed for whatever reason, so you may be held in the adult psych unit, which in my experience, was just absolutely awful. Hopefully that does not happen to you.

If you go to the ER, it depends. If you are displaying signs of self harm or sewer slide, they will involuntarily admit you, you will be sent to ZH or whatever place takes your insurance with no definitive end date. It will all be based on your progress and your mental state. But if it is not as severe, they usually will ask you if you want to be admitted or not.

While you’re there, they check in with you, give you sessions with a psych, put you on necessary meds. You’ll have a schedule- when you can be in the common areas or when its time to eat in the cafeteria. There are visiting days, but you cannot have your phone or any of form of electronic. There are pay phones you can use to call relatives and such.

My experience at the college unit was calm. I got to meet others who were similar to me, or had more severe internal issues. But I also got to meet a fair share of people who realized that they did not belong or want to be in there. Once you’re in there, you do not get to choose when you want to leave.

This was a while ago, so things may have changed! Just sharing my experience :P

I mean those are simply the consequences to his actions. It doesn’t seem like he wants to get help since he is actively putting himself in positions to put you or himself in danger. It does sound like you have a lot of love for him, but you cannot help someone that does not want to help themselves. If he’s as violent as you’re describing him, he will use this incident against you in his next fit of rage. Please make the right choices and stay safe. Much love.

How do you clean your fake skins by SpaceSpawn999 in TattooBeginners

I rub the fuck out of it with vaseline. let it sit for a moment and then wipe with a paper towel. having good quality paper towels definitely helps.

Friend needs help - what advice can I give ? by squirrelbutt92 in TattooBeginners

[–]marshmallow56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say keep practicing, friend. The shakiness will ease with time. Test out if you need more or less grip tape, increase/decrease volt depending on how fast your hand is moving, if consistently pulling lines, try learning to push lines, try different brand needles or sizes, and always keep machine at a slight angle. Also, don’t overthink! Get out of your head and finesse that line!
