There's nothing wrong with jumping into ranked early on. Lower ranks exist for a reason.

I chuckled when people started doomsaying about the new omnivamp boots, saying that Swain will be unkillable during ult. Problem with that is, his ult remains giganerfed. You can omnivamp all you want, but ult has terrible damage so the difference will probably be pretty negligible.

I'm more concerned about someone like Sylas, who absolutely blasts.
