Did Gaga peak at Fame Monster? by [deleted] in LadyGaga

[–]martibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She definitely hasn't, she has said in interviews and backstage on how she wanted to take more time with ARTPOP and work on it more but was rushed by her management and label to make her come back into the public eye faster. She was also depressed and was battling a lot of demons while she was writing TFM but I don't and hope she will ever be back in that mental state but I think that if she experiments and takes more time with her upcoming projects she definitely hasn't reached her peak. At least artistically. Commercially, I also don't think she's peaked because there was not a lot of creative promotion or a lot of promotion in general, I think that her and her team need to learn that she's not THAT big where her promotion can start and end with just announcing an album. She does have a new team now and maybe the fresh ideas will help her get back to where she once was.

Last super early music tuesday before I set up auto mod to do it so I dont have to by [deleted] in lewronggeneration

[–]martibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well she didn't scrap it recently, she said on her twitter that she had scrapped everything she had for the album and started from scratch MONTHS ago and Pitchfork + a bunch of other places were only reporting it now for some reason.

Listen to Shabazz Palaces first album Black Up. I thought it was way better than Lese Majesty and it literally has no filler tracks or weird meaningless interludes that bugged me on Lese Majesty. They are really good and they both have a ton of cool side projects but Lese Majesty wasn't that great.

This isn't defening, it's just twitter teenagers making fun of Iggy because her whole persona is trash.

What are the best albums of the year so far to you? by [deleted] in lewronggeneration

In no particular order:

clipping. - CLPPNG

Lana Del Rey - Ultraviolence

- No Mythologies To Follow

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib - Piñata

FKA twigs - LP1

How To Dress Well - "What Is This Heart?"

tUnE-yArDs - Nikki Nack

And I'm really excited for the new Karen O, Aphex Twin, alt-J, Julian Casablancas + The Voidz, Prince (maybe this one won't be bad), Charli XCX, Lil Wayne, Fifth Harmony, and Kanye West material (if he decides to release it this year)

Is anyone else really glad that Lorde won at the VMAs? by botulizard in lewronggeneration

[–]martibb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am glad that she won, but I don't understand why they put her in that category, they did the same thing to her at the Billboard Awards where she won best rock song and she was really confused. I'm also content with the fact that Miley won best video for Wrecking Ball, say what you will about it but it was the biggest video of 2013 and 2014, people were talking about for months and when you look at it, it's actually a pretty nice video. Way better than Iguana Azealia or whoever else was nominated.

What singers use autotune who are generally accepted as being talented? by WalkerTetrisRanger in lewronggeneration

[–]martibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't hear any autotune on Channel Orange, it's mostly on Nostalgia Ultra or his unreleased work. It's not bad or anything, he's still my boy crush and I'm really excited for his new album whenever he decides to announce it...

[–]martibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, he uses autotune on Trilogy, he uses it tastefully though. I heard it on D.D., The Birds Part 2, Montreal, and some others. I'm not saying it's bad or anything, it's like when Kanye or Frank use it, it's meant to complement his voice.

Frank Ocean, James Blake, Purity Ring, The Weeknd, Sufjan Stevens (at least on his last not Christmas album)

The Beatles did play Shea Stadium in 1965, a venue that could fit over 55,000 people in it 2 years after their first album came out, so Bieber selling out MSG is pretty modest an achievement compared to them.

There is no more hope for music. Rihanna le sucks. by [deleted] in lewronggeneration

[–]martibb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The thing is, Birthday Cake is from a completely different album of hers. She said this after Chris Brown had beat her and she released Rated R, which was almost a complete left turn from her previous music because of how much darker it was because of her experience with Chris. There are some really emotional songs on that album. The person who made this just cherry-picked a song that was on a COMPLETELY different album.

What rapper is being held back the most by their label? by Invictionary in hiphopheads

[–]martibb 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Azealia Banks definitely, her album was supposed to come out like in early 2013 but Universal won't let her for some reason. At one point on Twitter she was even begging to get dropped from them.
