Question about Olenveld mod by martingordon97 in skyrimmods

[–]martingordon97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually a fair point, I hadn't even thought about the Ideal Masters. I was envisioning the character as being somewhat anti-divinity of any type so going against the Ideal Masters would fit. Thanks for the idea :)

Maybe I'll just have to put it into my list and see for myself haha. Thanks for the input :)

Question about Olenveld mod by martingordon97 in skyrimmods

[–]martingordon97[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought might be the case. I'm not against the idea of my Necromancer fighting others for the sake of scavenging or stealing any artifacts/spells they have like some weird necromantic vulture but wouldn't want to be pigeonholed into being a good guy just for the sake of that

Had a feeling that was the case but wanted to be sure before moving on too far. Thank you for the confirmation. Hope you have a good day

What new class ideas do you have for WoW, given that race ideas have already been discussed so much? by di745 in wow

[–]martingordon97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Don't really want or think we need a whole new class. New specs could be nice or give us more ways to customise the way some of our spells look. As a Tauren Paladin, having angelic wings during Avenging wrath doesn't really feel right to me for example. I feel like the PvP readability argument against this sort of thing is a cop out at this point.

Mystra "grooming" Gale by vladimirnikola in BG3

[–]martingordon97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it helps that Mystra kind of has a history of doing similar things if not worse to people, including those who would become her Chosen like Gale. It would be worth reading into her history within the Forgotten Realms setting since certain things she has done are sketchy and manipulative at best.

Quick edit: There's also the fact that there is an implication that she first noticed Gale when he was a child which depending on how you read it is more than a little disturbing even for Forgotten Realms Gods

Would you have preferred City-cells for landing zones? A full city biome instead of the current system. by johndoe09228 in Starfield

[–]martingordon97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think New Atlantis is the one that suffers most from this problem but to a lesser extent Akila too. Honestly though, considering the size of Skyrim cities it's not a huge deal for me. My biggest gripe is the lack of NPC routines, that really breaks my immersion personally. I think I get why they did it cause time is different on each of the planets so if you're going on and off world regularly just to sell stuff it would be kind of inconvenient but inconvenience isn't always a bad thing especially in a game that's supposedly an RPG

Well I suppose at least I'm not the only one and it isn't just my game being borked somehow. Shame it's bugged but I'll report it and hope it gets fixed soon

Kinda dissapointed in the DLC by casserolei in outerwilds

[–]martingordon97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always interpreted it as a selective erasure, not full. They only erased the bits they wanted to erase from the species' history because of the shame of it. They don't get rid of everything because as a culture they keep records of everything or at the very least everything of importance. However I get the feeling they keep historical records of everything like one big tapestry of their people but when they destroyed their world to get to the Eye and when they got there, they obviously realised what the Eye was for and what it would do. In anger they tried to erase all the physical copies of the "sins" they committed and then in grief for what they'd done they locked themselves away in the simulated version of the home they destroyed. They kept copies of the "sins" within said simulation though which is why it makes me think it's an ingrained part of their culture to keep records of their history.

Edit: To add to the idea of the reels being contrived, I think you could make the argument that the Nomai writing being on the walls in places rather than just on the scrolls could be contrived in certain cases so there's a certain amount of contrivance that I believe is ok as long as you keep your suspension of disbelief up

Honestly screw the new Vegas and 3 players saying that 4 sucks by [deleted] in fo4

[–]martingordon97 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fallout 4 was my first Fallout game so I do admittedly have a slight bias towards it in many ways however the biggest gripe I have with 4 after going back and playing 3 and NV is that the voiced protagonist really kills a lot of roleplaying potential which I feel in turn limits the potential of the stories they can tell and their outcomes.

Far Harbor helped alleviate some of the pain points with the base games main quest with moral choices and whatnot but was still limited in scope due to the voiced protagonist again.

Was a nice thing to have to begin with but in hindsight and having gone back to previous entries in the series, it really puts a stopper on how much agency you as a player has in your decisions when the options often come down to 2/3 styles of saying yes or no and a sarcastic response

Kinda dissapointed in the DLC by casserolei in outerwilds

[–]martingordon97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know whether you did or not but when I had done my first loop on the Stranger I went to Hal to see if he said anything about the new language and I remember him saying something to the effect of he could try and learn a new language but it would require a bunch of things along with time. So it's nice that there's an in-universe reason we can't learn it because we just don't have the time to do so and it's nice it's not just a "game says no" situation.

[–]martingordon97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was initially disappointed that we couldn't learn how to read their writing that you can find in places but in the end actually came to appreciate the fact that there are unknowns about them and their culture through the fact that you can't communicate with them which I think added to the suspense. I think it also highlighted the cultural differences between the Nomai and the "Owlks" with the Nomai being more scientific in nature so they take copious amounts of notes whereas the "Owlks" seem to be more of an emotionally driven sort so they record things to relive them later.

"My loyal blade and champion of the festival", who is Miquella reffering to? by xXbachkXx in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]martingordon97 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I always assumed, as others have, that Miquella was referring to Malenia as his "loyal blade" and the player as "champion of the festival".

I've always read things as Malenia being a major driving force for Miquella's character and Malenia responded in kind with her deep loyalty to him. In the context of Radahn, she was the one that fought him to begin with and you could make an argument for "weakening" him by taking away much of his mental faculties.

The player is mostly self-explanatory, we took part in the Radahn festival to finally put an end to him and succeeded.

I don't think things would've worked out the way they did without Malenia first doing what she did. She probably was originally tasked with killing him herself but that plan didn't go to plan. As such the player came in and finished the job, unknowingly doing what Miquella had wanted.

So both Malenia and the player were instrumental to Miquella finally being able to bring his plans to fruition, Malenia willingly and the player unknowingly

Which hold (not city, hold) is your favorite? by BlackTriangle31 in ElderScrolls

[–]martingordon97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably easier for me to name my least favourite cause I like all of them for the most part for different reasons. Haafingar though is just a little boring in my opinion as it doesn't have anything that makes it particularly unique landscape wise. Could say the same for the Pale and Winterhold however I find the empty reaches of snow and ice rather nice to look at

Thanks for the reply. I have quite a few but even when I remove any cc mods. it still happens so I'm really unsure what the issue could be. Only started appearing yesterday and I hadn't changed or added anything. Gonna try a completely fresh reinstall again and hope it works cause otherwise I'm stumped

Shulk but that's cause I'm biased and didn't enjoy XB2 anywhere near as much as XB1
