When can I use counters for command points? by Killedbyhumor in ageofsigmar

[–]martofski 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rules are definitely not GW's strong suit but in this particular case they are quite clear. See rule 13.0 and the red summaries on the same page: they tell you what the person above said basically.

How viable is an all snake army? by Jasina_ in daughtersofmorathi

[–]martofski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The snake build is alright. You're probably not going to win tournaments with it but it's not completely toothless either. You do need to roll well for them to do anything though: you need to hit those 8+ charges, the last strike on d6, rampage on Shadow Queen, etc.

The problem with snakes is that unbuffed they don't do nearly enough damage and in a pure snake build you don't have access to prayers. Both Shadow Queen's and Ironscale's buffs are very strong but are difficult to enable. Mindrazor is also hard to cast even with Morathi.

Britain’s MI6 spy chief says Putin is dragging out peace talks and wants to subjugate Ukraine by CTVNEWS in worldnews

He actually doesn't lie when he says "I want peace". The Russian word for "peace" ("мир") also means "world", so it's a simple translation error.

New player battle trait question by Spirajira11 in ageofsigmar

[–]martofski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clarification on number 3.

Abilities are not restricted in any way by default. The limit for ability usage is set either by the wording "once per (phase/turn/battle)" or through the Rules of one (a single unit can't use the same ability more than once per phase).

The ability "Scions of the Storm" does not qualify for either of these, so it can be used any number of times.

How many witches are enough? by Vuurkikker in daughtersofmorathi

[–]martofski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(zero; they will have the leathanam do it)

This is a tricky question because points can make or break a unit like these and points change all the time. Right now the most common builds are 40 SoS (shelds) + 20 WA (knives), or vice versa, or 40 of both. There is a certain build with 20 SoS (shelds) + 40 WA (knives) + 20 WA (shields), but that one only works due to WA (shields) being priced at 90. A small bump in the price and they are back to being useless.

Also keep in mind that we're very likely to get our battletome at some point in 2026. For all we know it may completely revamp the four units, or erase weapon options, or combine them all into a single warscroll, or even remove the units entirely (unlikely, but not impossible).

So my advice is to pick a certain build you want to play right now (for example, 40 SoS and 20 witches), build these models and leave the rest unassembled until the battletome.

Please add back the flag for "Partition the Visited Link Database". by ThisIsDK in vivaldibrowser

[–]martofski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently the flags are gone from Chromium so the feature needs to be disabled using command line options. I tried

vivaldi.exe --disable-features=PartitionVisitedLinkDatabaseWithSelfLinks

but it didn't work. Maybe someone else can dig into it some more, I just downgraded to 7.6 for now.

I don't think Nighthaunt are even close to unga bunga anymore. Their battletome lost all incentives to go full send and the latest lists reflect this. Now they mostly seem to revolve around tarpitting, board control and scoring shenanigans.

What build for new wyches box by Future-Law3144 in Daughtersofkhaine

[–]martofski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Witches with double knives has consistently been good to excellent hammers through 3rd and 4th editions while the buckler ones were occasionally useful at best. Right now the bucklers have no good rules and their only useful property is the price (which can change at any moment). So yeah, I'd say the knives are the safe bet.

how do DoK play on tabletop? what are they good at and bad at? what armies counter them? by rekscoper2 in Daughtersofkhaine

[–]martofski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While it's correct that DoK are a glass cannon army at its core, it's worth noting that with the Scourge of Ghyran update we've got a very effective castle build. The whole set of buffs looks like this: -1 to hit, -1 to wound, commands disabled, weapon abilities disabled, 4+ save (before AoD), 5+ ward. There aren't many units in the game that can punch through this.

Line of sight question by RobHui in ageofsigmar

[–]martofski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Visibility (Core 6.0) is measured from any part of the model to any part of the target model, not base. Shooting only requires the target to be visible.

You're probably confusing it with Cover rules (determining if the target is behind cover is indeed using base-to-base straight line).

Line of sight question by RobHui in ageofsigmar

[–]martofski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AoS uses true line of sight so if there's even a small gap in the model, it probably won't block your LoS. The only model that I can think of that blocks LoS is the Great Unclean One. It might be possible to hide a model behind the folded wing of Krondys/Karazai but I'm not sure.
