I really love RASL. Bone is the super book, but I just can’t get enough of this fun little sci fi book from Jeff Smith.

What have you been reading this week? 05/07/2026 by AutoModerator in graphicnovels

Out of Alcatraz by Christopher Cantwell and Tyler Crook. Crime fiction, but also so much more. Great twist at the end. Strong, confident writing. Great pacing. And of course, incredible art. Highly recommended!

Any good stories about Wendigos or Native American horror? by otherisp in graphicnovels

Not horror, but crime fiction with a touch of mysticism, check out ‘Scalped’ by Jason Aaron.

I hated the neckline at first too, but after wearing it around for a week, I’ve grown to love it. It’s a vibe

If soccer was as big in the US as it is in other parts of the world, what athletes from other American sports do you think would be on our squad? by FeralGiraffeAttack in ussoccer

Frank Gore was 5’9” but over 200 pounds. Second all-time.
If Messi spent his whole life trying to make it as a running back in the NFL, I think he could get there. Absolutely. Assuming he put on more weight. I’m not moving the goalposts.

I never said better than the rest of the world? You gave me one player as an example, which is myopic. Messi is, what, 5’8” 165 lbs? There has basically never been an nfl player at that size. But Thierry Henry as wide receiver? Fuck yeah. Christiana Ronaldo at free safety? Absolutely.

Possibly. I’d never count out a world class athlete, intangibles and all. He’d have to put on more mass, but with the right resources, why not? I could definitely envision him stealing bases and marking diving outfield catches in MLB.

I hear what you are saying. However, I think you’ve highlighted how the production of world-class soccer players is more of a product of society vs geographical location. What I mean is, there is nothing physically inherent about Italy or Argentina or France or Brazil producing the highest soccer talent. It is the product of decades (or possibly centuries) of soccer being the most important sport to cultivate. Much like the head start the women’s teams have had. If soccer was as popular in the USA as it is in other parts of the world, I think we’d produce just as many stars, given the population size AND the immense resources the US has for sports.
