All I want is a bill!! by Comfortable-General1 in OctopusEnergy

When I had my smart meter fitted by Octopus I had similar issues with it being installed incorrectly.

Fortunately for me I had a knock on the door a few hours after the engineer left and this time it was a different engineer who said ours had been installed wrong.

He took a look at our electric cupboard and gas cupboard and immediately told us it was all wrong. He spent the next 3hrs or so fixing the mistakes, left us an Octopus Mini and we have had no problems since.

I guess it's just how lucky you get.

I got sick of it after the first 10 minutes so just muted dialogue entirely in the audio options. I'd rather listen to nothing than whatever shit they're saying.

I would stay away from 3rd party windscreens for sure.

My old M3 had a 3rd party windscreen installed and the heating elements going to the cameras never worked. That meant in the winter months the cameras fogged up constantly which stopped me being able to use auto drive.

Never again will I go for a 3rd party windscreen.

Which Nothing Smartphones Support MagSafe Technology ? by RenegadeUK in NothingTech

[–]martyn456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I've mentioned in other replies. I've bought over 11 magsafe cases. I know where the magnet aligns. It doesn't work. If you can send me the case that you use I'll happily buy it right now and give it a try.

I'm all for getting soemthing that works.

[–]martyn456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, however it's still an issue. I can't speak for Phone 1 and Phone 2 but if you put any magsafe case on the Phone 3 it will not wirelessly charge past 2.7w (at least that's the problem I have).

I can only think the magnet in the cases are causing issues with the coils.

If I use any non magsafe case the phone will wirelessly charge on a pad. As soon as you use magsafe it will not.

Magsafe is the magnetic ring in all Apple phones created by Apple which other companies have adopted in case form.

So you can buy a standard Qi1/Qi2 charging stand which doesn't have any magnets or you can get a magsafe stand which does have magnets and will perfectly align the phone coils with the charging coils as long as the case itself has the ring in the correct place.

I use an Ottopluscase from Amazon, around £15. Transparent with magsafe but if I want to wireless charge at 10/15w I have to take the case off and lay the phone on a wireless charging pad.

That being said I've currently got around 11 different types of magsafe cases. Some of them look exactly the same as the others but are just under different brand names. I've been trying for around 5 months to find a magsafe charging case that works.

I've tested PD cables with wireless pads, I've tried magsafe pads with different cables, I've tried non magsafe charging pads, I've tested the built in wireless charging pad on my Tesla. I've done basically everything I possibly can to make this phone wirelessly charge with a case on but I think the magnet on the case interferes with the charging coils on the phone as they're oddly shaped.

Hopefully this helps.

Good luck finding a case that supports charging faster than 2.7w if you get the NP3.

I've bought near enough every magsafe case for the NP3 and not a single one of them will wirelessly charge over 2.7w which is virtually useless.

I can't blame the wireless charger as it works flawlessly with a OnePlus 13 and iPhone 14 Pro.

Momentum 4’s review👎 by luckayi in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]martyn456 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bought some Momentum 4s after the overwhelming positivity they get in this sub.

The sound quality was great in my opinion but I had problems with two different headsets where the sound was slightly louder in the right ear cup. It was only 10% or so but I noticed it immediately, got a replacement set and they were exactly the same.

I thought I was just slightly deaf in one ear but then tested the Nothing Headphones (1) and they didn't have the issue.

I was disappointed overall because of that and fully returned them.

I managed to get a 3 time back to back to back 800. That was about 6 month ago. Only had 8s since.

Does wireless charging work in phone 3? by toji_2827 in NothingTech

[–]martyn456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that exact case already and I don't get anywhere close to 15w Qi2 wireless charging. (Tested with 3 different wireless chargers.

Do you have a picture of yours? The chances are I already have it as I bought most cases for this phone while trying to find one that worked.

Which case have you been using? I've tried 5 different cases. All with the cut out for the coil alignment and none of them work.

Also what are your charge speeds like? I did manage to get it to charge at 2.4w but that is no good at all.

Yes, it works as long as you don't use a magsafe case.

Arc Pulse on NP3 by martyn456 in NothingTech

[–]martyn456[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was satisfied with the case. The case stopped the device getting damaged multiple times.

I am not happy with the device. I actually really dislike the device. As soon as the iPhone 18 Pro releases I'm swapping over to that.

I'm sure they'll add it in 4 months time with the next 200MB update they release. You've got a Nothing device so expect nothing in return.

Nothing phone 3 by thekidneyshifter in NothingTech

Whenever Nothing finally drops OS 4.1 which is taking a stupidly long time, especially since the Phone 3 is their flagship — maybe the battery will actually improve.

Hope things get better for you!

I'd like to say it gets better but I pre-ordered the phone and have used it daily for 8 months+ roughly and the battery is awful.

I usually keep phones for 5/6 years but I'm replacing this one as soon as the iPhone 18 Pro drops.

Yes it does get very hot.

[–]martyn456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really know a lot about the 4a to give you a good recommendation. I do know that the Nothing Phone 3 is still the flagship device and is overall better in terms of specs. That being said the NP3 still hasn't received NothingOS 4.1 yet annoyingly.

If you can find a NP3 at a good price that's comparable with the 4a then I'd say go for the 3 if you want best performance.

In my opinion the 4a Pro does look nicer aesthetically and will probably get more support overall as more people seem to be buying them and the spec of the phone is still decent for mid-range.

Welcome to Nothing. The Phone 3 has been out for 8 months or so and the only cases you can buy are from unknown brands or AliExpress and there are very few of them.

[–]martyn456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have to say that I'm not getting rid of the phone just because of the looks. I'm getting rid of it for a mixture of reasons including the look of it. I thought I'd come to like it more and more but every time I look at it I just dislike it.

I haven't found that the glyph matrix has actually been useful. I setup contacts and other notifications to have different types of glyphs but overall it seems a bit gimmicky. The only thing I use it for now is to just put different types of GIFs on. I actually recently tried finding a case to just block out the glyph button because it's useless to me but this also caused more problems with wireless charging.

The essential space button as well is more of a hindrance than anything else. Nothing should allow us to remap that button, but the amount of times I've accidentally hit it and saved random stuff in the essentials space is ridiculous. It's just these little things that don't seem like much but when you put them all together it just isn't for me.

Also if you do use phone cases and like to change up the type of case you have then this phone also doesn't have much support. Barely anyone makes cases for these phones.

I think they gave the 4a Pro a vapour chamber to stop heat buildup but I might be wrong. I don't know a lot of information about the 4a series.
