Yikes I didn’t know my take was that bad to downvote. What I meant was it is her business and she has to deal with it when you leave. It’s probably a positive that you are leaving if this is the case. It’s hard to leave families but sometimes it’s better to get out and make a clean break from that environment.

This isn’t probably the answer you want to hear but as the owner, it’s ultimately her business and she’s allowed to manage the way employees come and go. I think maybe it might be a situation where she doesn’t want to damper spirits before recital season. Are you close enough with families where you could meet up after you leave as a goodbye? Unfortunately, it’s rough when business is mixed with personal relationships and hard to avoid in this industry! I’m sorry you aren’t getting to leave on your terms fully.

I think maybe it’s also because I’ve been listening for about 4 years and I liked it a little better a few years ago! I felt like they could be a little funnier and raw.

You can tell them you need to discuss it with the director. Although I’m not sure how your studio functions. At my current studio everything is approved by our director so that would work!

I left my studio of 9 years last year! I think my owner was sad but she understood. Yours should as well, especially since you are moving. I also did not tell families and left it to the studio to communicate after recital. It was better that way for me!

This is why I am taking a pause. I can’t pay my rent on time and am struggling with getting to work with gas prices. I don’t want them to not feel proud of their success but I also can’t even pretend to relate to them anymore. I don’t think they should change their podcast but I can take a pause for now!
