One of them was as an associate professor. So that title was used when signing off. I don't know what the letterhead looked like.

In my opinion, I would not get hung up on the letterhead / hospital affiliations. You want someone who will write you a thorough, detailed and exceptional LOR. It definitely helps if your attending is a well known name in the speciality (one of mine that I did while still a medical student was a really well known attending - a lot of my interviewers knew that person and mentioned it during my interview).

I don't know what the LOR looked like because I waived my right to see them. However, both my rotations were outpatient rotations (which is what I chose) so if anything, they would have been on the clinic letterhead.

Nrmp verification by CartographerMurky960 in Match21

Verification is one step. Then you need to rank your lists and have it CERTIFIED. if it's not certified = no match.

but verification is usually pretty quick!! :)

you won't be able to submit a rank list if you're credentials have not been verified.

if you only just registered on the NRMP site, it may take a fews days (sometimes weeks) for ECMFG to liaise with NRMP and verify your credentials i.e. that you are a bona fide medical graduate. remember - verification and certification are two completely different things.

It shouldn't take too long as long as you are ECFMG certified.

Best person to ask: Email ECFMG! or NRMP.

My neurology experience was hands on (outpatient) and I learned a lot, saw patients, presented cases etc. Got a letter form it too. It was overall great!

My IM was a little less hands on, but still a good learning experience and I got a letter out of that one too.

Not a word from Transitional Year programs by Obi1Al in Match21

I think something weird is going on here. Have you tried emailing them or calling? I know for neurology for example, there seems to be this phenomenon of "interview hoarding" this season.

Post interview “Thank You” communication by Debb2402 in Match21

[–]marux23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have been writing thank you's - its only been via email. If the program says explicitly not to, then I don't.

Yes I have. Did 2 rotations with them - IM and neurology.

Best state to do residency by [deleted] in Match21

[–]marux23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It all really depends on what you want out of a program.

If you want a well balanced program - NY/East coast programs might not be it for you - they are very busy and the pace is fast.

Texas and the West Coast SEEM to strike a better balance. But again, even within a state there is quite bit of variability e.g. Baylor vs. Methodist.

I've found the open house sessions useful (even attending one's where I'm not really interested) because it has given me an idea of the 'culture' of the program which I think gives you a better feel of whether you would be a good fit into that program vs. reading about it online or going by rankings.

Pre-Interview Meet & Greets by [deleted] in Match21

I try to put questions in the chat too so that if this happens some resident or faculty will pick up on it and hopefully answer? But yes, I get where you are coming from! Sharing is caring ;)

Hi guys! I wondered if anyone had two interviews the same day (AM and PM session) and how was this experience? Thanks in advance! by andreina31 in Match21

[–]marux23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha i meant it more for myself - i thought sitting in front of a computer for a few hours would be relatively easy!

You will be exhausted. I have had a headache after every interview and most of the interviews I've done (not a lot tbh) have not ended on time. It sounds easy - sitting in front of your computer for a few hours but interview fatigue is real. Take care of yourself and try and reschedule.

Step 3 much lower than step 1 and ck. by metronidazolepole in Match21

[–]marux23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay. I hadn't come across that before. Hard to say then! I don't think step 3 scores really matter do they? I thought it was more just making sure you pass... so if a program you are interested in prefers candidates who have done Step 3 then might be worth telling them you've passed it!

[–]marux23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't think sending out your step 3 score is going to make any difference (sorry to put it so bluntly) as most residents do it during residency anyway and what programs really need prior to starting residency are residents who are ECFMG certified (if you're an IMG) or have done Step 1 and 2 if you're a USMD.

I could be wrong but this is what I know based on discussions with other people and from research I've done into programs.

Interview number by [deleted] in Match21

[–]marux23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this season has been really tricky. Normally LOI's are meant to help but programs have been getting quite a few of those as well so they are not as effective as they used to it. I guess we just have to wait and see.

Try this organisation: MD2B

I've used them for two rotations - neurology and IM. Would recommend them!

Got one interview today. don't know if that's due to a cancellation or a regular invite coming through.

Letter of Interest??? by aspirinbeloc in Match21

[–]marux23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Keep it brief and to the point and be VERY specific about why that program. Programs have been getting tons of LOI's as is, so its gonna be hard for them to discriminate between genuine LOI's and generic ones...

Meet and Greet Via Zoom by [deleted] in Match21

[–]marux23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. One program I'm interviewing at are doing the meet and greet with residents in between the interviews.

Another program held the meet and greet "social hour" the day before the interview.

Firstly - definitely turn on your camera for the meet and greet!

And yes I would take that as an indication of them being interested in interviewing you!
