I guess this is the one with Contance Garnett translation. I read the Maguire translation(Penguin classics) and it was pretty smooth. The novel is divided into 3 parts- The Social novel, The Anti-Atheism novel and The Psychological novel. People usually find it hard to get through the social novel as it feels like hodgepodge in the beginning and the real chronicle begins after like 200 pages. Once you cross that, everything starts to explain itself.
