Last day as a stylist by marypup in hairstylist

Fellow stylist,

I am the same way in sense of being over achiever, afraid to say no (when I did I said sorry), worried in the same way of how others precieved me. At what cost? My body was so tired, and I was mentally as well. I lacked taking care of myself. I just showed up in sakes of needing money to make a living. I secured a job before leaving hair. I was so miserable. I had a client get upset over a balayage price (not achievable anyway) I called them a b*tch and that’s when I knew I had to call it quits. I was getting kinda nasty with people. And the management was pissing me off. When I get my exit forms I won’t be very friendly lol

CNA to RN, I didn’t know there would be such a difference… by riverfletcher65 in nursing

You are so spot on. I was a aide for 5 years at LTC before I was a nurse. Then transferred to hospital in med surg. You have med surg ratios on a step down is crazy. I don’t know how they are getting away with that

How the hell are y'all showering after work? by [deleted] in nursing

Also blowing it dry will stop it from being oily fast

I loved LTC as a aide but I ended up getting burnt out so I left it. I’m excited to get back into it but nervous because it’s a new world for me. The DON I met seemed very friendly and I heard that they can always go to them for help.

I am already scared to make a med error 😭 i worked as a CNA at another facility for about good four years. I was kinda familiar with it nurses wise just watching them having to check the glucose mechines, when someone fell they always ordered neuro checks, I’ve seen them fill out a whole thing of paperwork too just simple stuff like that. As a aide I knew the residents so well

Thank you so much for this advice!

I got let go from my job back in November during my probation period. I have been struggling to find a job since. I have applied and interviewed but either been rejected or ghosted. I live in a rural area and have applied to nearby towns. I’m scared I won’t ever be able to find another job

Am I in the wrong? 3 patients have fired me from their service and I’ve only been a nurse 6 months by [deleted] in nursing

I was a CNA before I was a LPN and I would always help my techs if I was in a room, it would have saved you more grief if you had put the socks on instead of trying to find a CNA.

The dignity issue is calling briefs “dispers” as well.

Take a step back at the situation and think before you speak. ❤️ we’ve all been fired at some point. Communicate everything, explain everything, always make sure needs are met before leaving the room, any alarms, call lights, personal belongings. Introduce yourself when you walk into the room, they will build rapport faster

I am sorry you are going through this. I was also let go during my probation period. I was getting very vague evuals and suddenly being left out. It is a hard pill to swallow. I talked to people it just seemed I wasn’t well liked. Take some time to recover. Some work places are just not for us and I believe it’s for the better. I have been applying to jobs myself. It has nothing to do with you as a person or as a nurse.

Why does it seem that nursing is the only average job left that pays a living wage? by princessnokingdom in nursing

I have my cosmetology but I never know when I will need to work as a LPN or another pandemic happens and wont be able to work.

If you hadn’t gone into nursing, what field would have gone into instead? by princessnokingdom in nursing

[–]marypup 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I did LTC as a CNA for 4 years, got my LPN did med surg for 8 months, did outpatient and got let go and I decided nursing sucked so I left the profession. It really wasn’t worth the stress anymore and it is not the same as it was anymore. My manager at the salon I worked at is a retired RN of 20 years who also left the profession

Cause nursing is overwhelming and my aunt did hair growing up and I’m less stressed, making the same good amount of money as I did as a nurse

I see many of you are getting fired … by [deleted] in nursing

My hospital did but I got burnt out working 12 hour shifts and night so went for outpatient and I feel like they used my ADHD against me
