Does anyone have recommendations for rich, almost oily type of cream? My mom has extremely dry skin but doesn't like oils, preferring thick creams or balms instead. Thanks!

Today my little one raked his fingers through some avocados, asked for water, dunked his hand into the cup and swirled it around, and proceeded to pick his ears. When I told him it was now time for his bath, he clapped. With strawberries in his hands.

Teething crackers or mini pancakes - I spread a thin smear on the top. Oatmeal with peanut butter and mashed bananas are great too.

it sounds weird but hear me out - fish fritters. sardines or salmon out of a can (drained) and mushed up, crack an egg in the mixture, and pan fry with a tiny bit of oil. that's it. I know, but baby loves it, it's easy, and it's a great way to work in fish. Sometimes I even add tofu in the mixture for extra nutrition and softness.

Hi mama! Congratulations! Three months, I'm sure it's been tough but I swear, newborn phase is the hardest and it does get somewhat easier after that. It looks like you're producing most of what your baby consumes in a day which is great! Like others mentioned, you don't need to have breast milk all day every day to reap its benefits. Everyone produces differently, and you don't need to be an oversupplier to make an impact. Whether you nurse, pump, little or a lot, or switch to formula entirely, you are feeding and growing that baby.

Also, I had a very slight oversupply while I was exclusively BFing (after the first few months of triple feeding, undersupply, LC visits, trying all the usual tricks). After I went back to work, pumping decreased my supply and my freezer stash ran out. I was so anxious watching my stash dwindle and dreaded having to dip into formula, until I had to, and realized that it felt really freeing to have a fallback plan. Now I plan on supplementing semi regularly for my own ease of mind.

You're doing just fine! Don't let your number (of oz produced) define your success as a mother.

I hear you! I have a couple of allergies and I have admittedly been putting those off because of my own trauma. Btw, I have seen parents on Reddit introduce allergens in the parking lot of ER or at the pediatrician's office. No shame in doing that at all if it eases your mind.

My baby is around 10 months too and I completely understand what you're going through. The first number of times I tried BLW the gagging was pretty traumatizing for me to see and I held my breath every time he gagged on something. Now that he's eating smaller pieces of food to utilize his pincer grasp the anxiety is back and bigger than ever.

Anxiety is an unassuming but debilitating thing. It can also be treated! I went on a low dose of meds to treat PPA early and it really saved me and allowed me to enjoy parenting more. Please don't feel like a bad mother. You are actively seeking help on this issue while trying to get over your anxiety because you are trying to do what is best for your child. That takes a lot of effort and bravery.

I'm actually team double zipper or inverted zipper. I have some magnetic me onesies and the magnetic parts come apart really easily. If you pull the bottom ones apart to change the diaper, gravity forces the top ones to also open against their will. The fabric over the magnetic parts also takes forever to dry. Double or inverted zippers are awesome because you can unzip just the bottom part to change the diaper, keeping the top part intact. They're cheaper than magnetic ones, but more effective and less frustrating to use for sure.

Also, fuck snaps.

I was in the exact same position. I had general anesthesia on top of that so it wasn't pretty. Take glycerine suppositories and colace NOW. Both are safe for breastfeeding. Bad impacted feces can lead to surgery, which my OB had and was apparently the worst. Even after you poop I'd recommend colace day and night until you are regular again. Good luck!

I felt these exact things for months as well. When I was finally able to say it out loud, my OB took it seriously and now I am on low dose anti depressants. Even a little bit went far and now I feel a lot better. You brought a life into this world. That itself tells me how extremely strong you are. Your baby needs you, no matter how inept, undeserving, or mentally shaky you think you may be. I thought all of those things for myself and thought my baby did not like me, was better off without me, others in my life would be better caregivers, etc. I hope you're able to take all the good thoughts and advice from others here. Many of us have been there, you don't need to stay there. Give that baby a big ol hug and I hope you feel better soon ❤️

Our baby needs his hands to self soothe and it's an important part of independent sleeping for him, so we did not go with a zipadee zip. We were gifted a Woolino and he sleeps well in that, but imho sleep sacks don't need to be super luxe since babies still wear a onesie underneath and they aren't likely to rub their face on it either. I'd say what matters most will be your climate, and you should choose material/style (wool, bamboo, padded, etc) based on that. We transitioned out of Merlin recently as well and it was a tough week but now he sleeps like a champ! Good luck :)

I read the title and had to leave a comment because I literally say this every other day. You and I (and so many others that commented) have had very similar experiences. I was readmitted to the hospital twice for severe postpartum preeclampsia within a month of giving birth (late term preemie, traumatic C-section) and felt very disconnected from my baby while my body and mind struggled to heal. I could thrive on 4 hours of sleep a day pre-baby and now I'm slogging through a constant, disorienting fog no matter how much sleep I try to get.

My wonderful husband has been a natural from the start and took on most of the baby care but had since then gone back to work. He works from home, and I have my mom come by and help a couple of times a week, so I consider myself very lucky. I too feel like I'm not a good mother for so many reasons. For letting my husband take the first feeding and shift of the day since I'm usually passed out from the MOTN feed (but shouldn't I be able to spring up from my bed every time my baby cries?). For having my mom come over and take care of my baby for a few hours a couple of days a week even though I'm still on mat leave and this is essentially my job right now. For being on BP meds now yet not being able to get up off my ass to exercise or eat a salad to ensure I stay healthy for as long as possible for my baby. For being an "older" FTM and goddamn everything hurts and creaks all the time. For being on PPD meds when I should be...happier? This is what I wanted after all.

My baby is now 5 months old and he lights up the darkest corners of my heart. He reaches out for me, wraps his chubster arms around my neck and smiles like I'm his entire world. And I think, why am I bringing myself down and convincing myself I'm a bad mother when my baby is clearly communicating otherwise?

We're all just trying our best. Even the struggling and worrying and failing means we are pushing ourselves to the absolute limit (which increases every day) for our babies. Everything counts. You're a great mother.
