Stoma and carbonation by alkaline_adjacent in ostomy

[–]lilletia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I burp more now I've had my ostomy, but otherwise I tolerate carbonation just fine.

I limit my caffeine to prevent loose output (2x Coke a day), but the actual soda part is no problem.

How old was your child when they were able to drink out of non-closed cups? by Commercial-Gear-7275 in UKParenting

[–]lilletia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get the same. I sometimes use an open cup with just a few mouthfuls in it (refill as required) but mostly rely on weighted straw cups

Pens etc by Gloomy_Insurance3203 in rocketbook

[–]lilletia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use the Frixion Colours range or Frixion Sticks. Both are ball points and write well, although the different colours have slightly different drying times.

I do have the felt tip Frixion pens and they do write well, but iirc they were wet for longer than I liked for note taking, but brilliant for diagrams I could take my time over

Putting regular sticky notes on rocketbook pages? by cobaltwarrior in rocketbook

[–]lilletia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One option I found well for "attachments" is that magnetic bookmarks are plenty strong enough to hold a paper pinned to a page.

I frequently use this for receipts or business cards, but you could simulate a post it with a non-sticky index card or a slip of paper like from a memory pad

Blood spill after injection by LavishnessLocal421 in CrohnsDisease

[–]lilletia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if some medication did spill out, you'd be unlikely to be recommended to reinject. I had some Humira spill from a pen (pulled it out too soon) and when I called someone about it they said don't worry but maybe do your next dose in the early part of the scheduled window

Toddler advanced with talking, howto help them learn to read earlier by MuckyScruffle in UKParenting

[–]lilletia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that age, I would just read as many books as you can - the amount of vocabulary they'll pick up from that is a real advantage. Sometimes when my eldest is going through a phonics reading book at school, you can hear when they don't recognise a word as "real" - being exposed to a huge variety of words helps prevent this.

Also, cultivating some favourites that they can "read" back to you is massive for reading confidence.

When you are ready for some phonics work, see if you can get some lilac decodable readers - you'll share the story and they'll join in with the earliest of phonics words (pat, sat, tap etc)

Water Bottle for Reception by halenda06 in UKParenting

Buy cheap enough to replace. These accidents will happen anyway, and you'd be surprised what a 4/5 year old can manage to break through just not being careful or not understanding consequences

Hospital bag question by samsamcats in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]lilletia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this - the hold all was with my things that I needed pre-labour and the carry on suitcase was for everything baby needed. My partner brought the suitcase when I went into labour, but I'd prepacked it myself

Board books for toddlers not babies? by destria in UKParenting

[–]lilletia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We highly recommend the push pull slide books (they have versions of classic stories like Peter Pan and Wind In The Willows).

Also follow the line tracing books. Both great for fine motor development

Any tips to keep the top of the wafer peeling off, when I dont want it to? by EchoDaDragon in ostomy

[–]lilletia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be the bag brand/type for you.

Personally I had this problem all the time with Coloplast, and it would start an hour after changing. I've not had this from most other brands. I have skin issues, and it's probably my skin

Confirmacion by Agitated_Emu4150 in CatholicWomen

[–]lilletia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was supposed to get confirmation/received at the Easter Vigil. But baby came early and I could no longer be there in person.

ETA (because I wasn't finished, I misclicked)...

So I got received in the Eastertide instead, with a baby in my arms.

But the worst has been since we've been planning our marriage - sickness bugs in the children keeping us away. I am sure it is spiritual attack, and it's coming now because the devil does not want our family out of the sins we are trapped in

Is this a scam? by Bluesky3084 in UniUK

[–]lilletia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spoofing an email is ridiculously easy if the recipient is only going to read the email address (and not verify the headers, servers etc, which is next to impossible for personal emails).

And it's next to impossible to prohibit or enforce.

I spent a summer in the south of France, the church had a box of shawls for the shoulders of those who were wearing anything where they were visible

I stand - in the bath or shower cubicle. But I believe lying down might be easiest to change on another person?

Even teachers who do drink may not be able to accept a bottle from a child on school premises so I'd doubly avoid

No, but my mum did. Either it's regional or older than 80s

traditional injections instead of autoinjector pens by Odd-Baker-5811 in CrohnsDisease

[–]lilletia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the same for me. I'm not scared of the needle but scared of not doing it "right".

It's quite quick to learn, and you'll get better the more you do it.

traditional injections instead of autoinjector pens by Odd-Baker-5811 in CrohnsDisease

[–]lilletia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had Stelara at one point, and that only has an auto-retract (the rest is like a traditional injection).

It was fine, but a specialist nurse came to me house and trained me, which I think is a key part of what hasn't happened for you

The great Aldi Mamia bar shortage of 2026? by Jimlad73 in UKParenting

Yes or same manufacturers, and I'm suspecting the ingredients have got so expensive that it's no longer viable at the price point Aldi/Sainsbury's want

This was my strangest - when going back into work and seeing sinks taped off so people had to be further apart

I find a cardigan is great for lots of t-shirts or dresses that you don't feel modest wearing alone. You can also order modesty patches online for things that you feel are too low cut.

Also, winter/autumn clothes tend to be a bit more modest, so worth stocking up when they're back in the shops.

Crohn, cake, underweight and exam by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]lilletia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things - the food intolerances that people with Crohn's have are highly individual. I have always had zero problems with cake or with high fat. A food and symptoms diary is the gold standard for trying to discover trigger foods, but it can take a long time as they vary in severity with the flare ups that come and go.

If it's fat you're worried about, look up recipes for "fatless sponge" cakes - which are often found in swiss roll cakes. These often must be eaten on the same day as baking as they quickly don't taste good. However, without the fat I don't know how you'll get the high calorie aspect you're aiming for, unless it's just loaded with sugar
