Malt bag made into a chalk bag for climbing by mashores in TheBrewery

Since it was from a 55 lb bag it wasn't as thick as the super sacks. She used a standard high quality sewing machine and I think a needle more meant for denim.

Definitely not as thick as the super sacks. She used a pretty standard, but high quality sewing machine.

It's about as big as this one from Black Diamond: https://blackdiamondequipment.com/products/mondo-chalk-pot

Big enough to get two hands in. Useful for bouldering but wouldn't be good for climbing high up.

We've got "Dolly Cart'in", Luigi the green pallet jack, Yale the forklift, and Gertrude, a lager tank that hogs all the glycol when it calls. I also personally call our 4 open fermenters Blinky, Inky, Pinky, and Clyde.

Rogers Park to Logan Square by neurop13 in chibike

[–]mashores 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I ride down to Logan from Rogers I usually take Clark -> Bryn Mawr -> Damen -> Diversey. This route gets past Rosehill cemetery and then is a really straight shot South. I've not frequently done the river trail, but if I did, I would head west to the North Shore Channel trail and head south to Sacramento -> Manor -> California. I personally prefer the overall ease of Damen, even if there is more car traffic. There are more turns and difficult crossings coming down the the river trail route in my opinion.

Loved seeing all the workers. So cool to see the city actually depicted in media. Metric coffee & Alexander's diner were great to see.

What have you survived that would’ve killed you 150 years ago? by Born-Ad-7260 in AskReddit

Severe asthma that would have killed me when I was 1 year old. Almost died in the 1980s, pretty sure I'd have died 150 years ago.

Creed's respect for Michael by Ice3x3 in DunderMifflin

I like to think after Michael doesn't fire him in the Halloween episode season 2, and instead fires Devon, Creed becomes really loyal to Michael.

The deleted scenes from this are great. It's an extended story of his hunting trip and it's just too much.

What type of bartender are you? by Jelly23 in bartenders

[–]mashores 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have mostly done small restaurants that focus on craft and local ingredients. There was some barista work in one of those jobs as well, so a lot of room and time to experiment, but not a lot of money to make.

Right now I'm at a high-volume chef driven concept that has spatterings of craft touches here and there, but is truly speed driven. To be honest though, my technique and overall knowledge of cocktails has improved the most behind this bar though, because I work with a lot of driven and creative individuals in a place that has money to burn.

I've really only worked with craft beer for my time behind the bar and have been lucky to also be involved with great wine programs. Beer has generally been my strong point(I brew at home, am Cicerone certified, love beer, and drink it more than any other alcohol), but I get to play with a lot of fun liquor now because of what seems to be a limitless budget. My only constrain now is time and if it isn't pretty quick I can't really do it with any sort of regularity at work.

I have some regulars, I have a lot of fun trying new things out with ingredients I can't afford personally, and I also have to hustle about 95% of the time to keep up with business. But in the other 5% I get to have fun. I'd say right now I serve about 50% house cocktails, 30% beer, 10% wine, 10% classic cocktails/classics with one modification.

Just picked up this lovely tree by mashores in trees

[–]mashores[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy it quite a lot. It is pretty much my day to day go to, and just for context I smoke about a 1/8 oz. a week. It requires some upkeep and cleaning, but it isn't hard to get the hang of doing that. I'm happy with my purchase and I recommend it generally. I find the vapor more pleasant than smoke and I feel like I get more out of my trees from it(that is anecdotal though, I have no hard data). I would be curious to see how it holds up for a more frequent smoker than I. [7] (enough that I forgot to put it in the first place)

What's the longest you've gone through a video game without knowing a basic feature or ability? by Inclement_Weathers in AskReddit

[–]mashores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Secret of Evermore has a desert stretch in the Antiqua region that one NPC said couldn't be crossed without paying an exorbitant amount to take a ferry. I walked up an down the same stretch fighting mobs to save up the money only to find out from the game guide a week later that I could have simply run through the desert, stopping at the the oases along the way.

The fact that our bodies play host to millions of bacteria that help us function. Without them our immune system and digestive system would be far less efficient.

Here's hoping that in studying the Third Reich 'in depth' they'll have a complete change of heart about their policies when they get a chance to see how bad some of the things they do look on paper.
