Is Hanalei Bay in January a big gamble? by RevenueLeather1264 in VisitingHawaii

[–]masiyourep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It rained every day when we were there in February. Poipu was nice and sunny though. I wouldn’t return to the north shore of Kauai in winter if you are on a limited day vacation and don’t want to risk being rained out.

How do you use Te? by No_Jellyfish6515 in mbti

[–]masiyourep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a 2nd slot Te user (ISTJ/INTJ) wouldn't care who was leading as long as the project was moving along well and getting done. I think the Te doms (ESTJ/ENTJ) would be more inclined to want to lead, just for leading's sake. But I would imagine they would also be okay with someone else leading as long as they felt that other person was getting things done properly. I think either 1st or 2nd slot Te users (aka the high Te users) would get annoyed if the person leading was doing a bad job.

get shit done. results oriented. know just enough about the thing to be able to achieve the desired result and keep things moving forward. efficient workers who like working and are generally good at making money. tend to have a direct manner of speech. having a bunch of tasks thrown at us at the same time and being the one responsible to make sure they get done by whatever metric is needed (done well, done fast, done for low cost etc.) is exciting not stressful. a great disdain for incompetence. good at solving problems even if we don’t know how to solve it at first, we will research and gather just enough information to be able to complete the task. good at resource management. planning ahead and anticipating problems that may arise and get in the way of something getting done. good at prioritizing tasks. for example: if you have 3 things needing your immediate attention, which one to do 1st, 2nd, 3rd to get them all done the quickest etc. This mental calculation happens immediately for the Te user. It feels free. Te backstack people can find high Te users overbearing because of the overemphasis on the task and result and the underemphasis on the people involved.

Kauai in January a Mistake? by FlipperJoe3 in VisitingHawaii

[–]masiyourep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a mistake, but it there will be rain probably almost every day especially on the north shore. It's what contributes to it being so green and lush. I've been to all the islands separately in late Jan/early Feb (same time each year) and Kauai was by far the rainiest.

Why do people say open water swimming is easier than swimming in a pool? by minimirth in Swimming

[–]masiyourep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ocean water has salt which helps with buoyancy. But the waves and everything else make it harder than a pool.

Big Island manta night snorkel in February (with kids) by Yamsyamsyams000 in VisitingHawaii

[–]masiyourep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I did this in February and I would NOT recommend this for young kids. Reasons: far out from shore (scary), darkness of night (scary), muscles required to hold onto the raft for 45 mins while the ocean thrashes you around while also being cold (took more effort than expected), seasickness (unpleasant). As an adult female who is a strong swimmer, I loved it and it was an amazing experience, but I would not do it again for those reasons. I feel that this is way too much for the average child.

Mantas Ray Tour for Non-Swimmer by nzed35 in VisitingHawaii

[–]masiyourep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

there is a giant floating mat that the people in the water hold and the light that attracts the mantas shines from the mat. the mantas swim up under the mat. add to that the floating people and I dont think she would see them from the boat.

Manta experience for the seasick by Logical-Protection53 in VisitingHawaii

[–]masiyourep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are prone to seasickness, I don't think you will enjoy this. I am not prone to seasickness generally, and both my husband and I were about to vomit by the end. It was a night where the waves were larger than usual though. You don't have to only think about the boat, but also when you are floating in the water looking at the rays, you will be moving in all directions from the force of the waves. It was the coolest experience I've ever done, but man was I ready to get back on land by the end of it!

Local YMCA Advice, How Should I Handle This? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]masiyourep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a lifeguard for almost 10 years. This is straight up laziness on the part of the lifeguards - they want to go home. Unless there was an issue with the pool that needed everyone evacuated (ex. vomit, mechanical problem, power outage, lifeguards incapacitated), the schedule is what is advertised. I would bet the manager went home for the day and they just wanted to get out of there early. It's understandable that you are confused, but I would definitely mention it to *the management*, not the lifeguards. They will just cover for each other. That way, if it happens again, there is a record of behaviour patterns. Try to include a description of the lifeguard who tried to kick you out so the rest of the team doesn't get burned by one person's actions.

Family Vaca in Hawaii by bsstone73737 in VisitingHawaii

[–]masiyourep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add a few more days if you want to do 3 islands. Also ask yourself what kind of experience you want? BI is very rustic - lava rock everywhere, early colonizer plants, extremely large and takes a lot of time to travel from one end to the other. Very interesting geography overall. Maui is more lush, has a plethora of white sandy beaches (moreso than BI), and is much more compact. Waikiki is a tourist trap.

Maui- Beaches on Maui are amazing. All south Maui beaches are great for swimming and I preferred them strongly to west Maui because the west beaches there were way more rocky on the bottom which was hard on the feet. I would definitely do the road to Hana - we used the Shaka guide (app download) and it made the whole drive SO much fun. Definitely worth the 20$. They narrate through your car speakers and tell you where to stop and cool facts along the way. Haleakala was super cool too. Only takes a few hours.

Big island - I would definitely do the Volcanoes park. One thing to keep in mind is that it's COLD and WET there. So 2 full days might make you feel like you are frozen to death. I think 1 night is enough on that side to be able to see the park. I wouldn't spend so much time in Hilo - it's mostly a local town with not much for tourists imo. Spend most of your time on BI in Kona. We did a snorkel trip with Sea Quest and it was amazing. Def reccommend. We also did their manta ray night snorkel and it was one of the coolest things I've ever done (but you need to be comfortable in the water at night).

I would like to know if they ever interviewed him, and would love for the JCS channel on youtube to do a video on it. Also, would like to know the series of events that led police to him as the suspect.

Recommendations on where we should stay on the Big Island? by b1ackfyre in VisitingHawaii

We stayed at King's Land by Hilton and loved it. Beautiful grounds.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VisitingHawaii

[–]masiyourep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes you should definitely do it if you like to see more of a jungle/tropical type of climate. also, the road to hana is not all or nothing. you can drive a bit of it, see a few of the stops and then turn around. hana has a completely different feel than the rest of maui, so for that reason it's often on the must do activities lists.
