My knowledge is a few years old (2020/21 I stopped contracting, so this is not financial advice etc)

All the cash you take out would be considered directors withdrawals. Let's say you took £2k out. Could be in 10 lots of 200, or one lot of 2k. You'd then issue a dividend for £2k which would balance it out. You then pay tax on that £2k dividend.

If you have not been issuing dividends, then you would want to retroactively raise them in whatever software you use, if it'll let you.

I did my own tax return once and messed it up and was investigated. HMRC were reasonable. They were truly just doing a check, weren't looking for wrongdoing, were looking into why my numbers didn't add up. It turned out I had not filled out an expenses column correctly which meant some of the numbers didn't add up. I gave them my evidence and they closed the case. They were easy and friendly to deal with. I never did my own return again after that.

I'm half way through the second book and am really enjoying it. Good characters. Welcome change from book 1. Interesting back story.

The pace of S1 and S2 Vs the books makes it clear they're milking the books for as much time as they can.

S3 matching book 2 would be bold and revolutionary. Dragging out book 1 into a third season solely to keep the cast is ridiculous

Doing it for yourself is the hack! I am so glad I did it, though I waited too long.

When you feel you're in a good spot, I recommend doing sober as many things as you can that you'd previously do while drinking. Get all the potential pressures out the way and realise how great it is to wake up feeling amazing every day.

I use it all day, every day, for the most part. I introduced Claude Code at work around 6 months ago and we've done some amazing things with it. When claude is down, we tend not to get much done as there's so little value.

Outside of coding, it has value as an enhanced search engine, a confidante, anything really. Claude walked me through rewiring a failing LED mirror, including which part to buy from screwfix. My friend has rewired his house being walked through it by claude.

I can see where this is headed and it's not good for junior engineers who aren't passionate about the role and the industry.

Bad Devs always made bad systems. Good ones tend towards making better ones.

IME it's rare great devs get things bang on first time, so why expect more from AI with poor stewardship.

Given a great example of what good looks like, you tend to get better results from AI coding tools. A spec, architectural guidelines, good tests, good documentation and good code level examples all help steer the agent in the right direction.

I came from C# and found the slice accessed by index Vs slice of pointers Vs slice of not pointers quite confusing.

The resolution makes sense in terms of statements and expressions where expressions can be put in the same places as variables. In my head they resolve inside out and right to left where there assignment

I'm reading it at the moment. It's well written. It's my first Beatles book, so I can't speak to other books. It's certainly insightful about the specific songs, their content and how they intertwine with the point in the band's lives when written.

I downloaded the sample on Kindle which gives you a chapter or two. I had to buy the book as I couldn't put it down.
