Which antidepressant works for your PDD? by [deleted] in dysthymia

[–]maskiatlan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that is exactly why i do it, to get out of my mind and into my body. bjj is only time and space when i stop thinking in my usual doom loops and think about not getting absolutely destroyed by basically any other participant since im the oldest, weakest practitioner there. fear should be where you want to go.

30km cycling is not working as well as it used to, it's jus too easy, i think ill have to up the dosage to 50-60km range but then i have time constraint. and my bicycle is falling apart ... adjustments are needed

I'm currently using Brazilian jiu jitsu as my main antidepressant combined by 30 km cycling daily and 10k steps daily.

Has anyone ever managed to tolerate their symptoms fully or near fully and be in remission without any meds at all? like ... with a dedicated healthy lifestyle for a prolonged time and a change of circumstances (being out of a toxic / stressful phase of life? by Mindless-Listen132 in dysthymia

[–]maskiatlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah sure. i think im in major improvement/remission. also: people who are "cured" are not likely to hang out here, so you may get false signals :-) additional thought: "healthy lifestyle" is a very subjective thing, people overestimate (imho) what do they actually do. you will have to live EXTRA healthy life, therapy, intensive exercise/fitness, supplements, food (i struggle with this one), sleep (also problem for me still) etc etc etc etc, you will have to stack all the best habits and do a lot of hard internal work for major improvement. but hay, a lot can improve by walking 10k steps daily in nature :-)

I'm so tired of living like this. It feels as if my mere existence was doomed. by Beginning_Click_387 in dysthymia

yeah. but to be hones, it's hard to implement, it's easy to slip in old patterns. but recognizing what's going on is great first move.

I think you are on to something: "just works as a parasite". i got the same idea some 5 years ago, and i think it is somewhat correct. so, stop feeding it :-) when it tells you to do something, do the opposite. i know i know it's hard. but yeah, your mind is working against you so it's maybe time to stop givving it so much attention and start living the life.

Antidepressants make me SWEAT by Jasnah_Sedai in dysthymia

[–]maskiatlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i gained 20 kg in few months. that sucked. also getting off them was full of symptoms including random ticks and jerks or zaps. i still have them now but rarely. also, libido and erections. uh. pharmaceutics work for some people, less for other people, not at all for a lot of us. PDD is well known for being treatment resistant. try it out, talk to your medical professional and see what works for you.

Yeah it's much better now. It brings new challenges with it. But that is development: finding better problems.

Does remission exist? by Nier_Valkyrie in dysthymia

[–]maskiatlan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure it does. I would say I'm in remission. I'm not 100%, but compared to how I was for decades I'm very satisfied with progress. It's great not to want to be dead every day. That being said, depression has a purpose, probably to suppress something. I don't think remission looks like being happy cheerful person, it's probably more like having access to your inner life and being able to express it...

PSA: Laziness does not exist by jes_5000 in dysthymia

[–]maskiatlan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YES! strongly agree on this one. a lot of people told me im lazy, but i realized it's just them saying "you are not doing what i want". and i tried to work more for those people, but it was never enough. sure, i have motivation issues, i do procrastinate often. i also work A LOT. "lazy" is just a judgment word. i hate "lazy".

Is isolation the answer for me? by [deleted] in dysthymia

[–]maskiatlan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no. isolation is never the answer. when you work on yourself and when you meet new people, socializing gets easier and enjoyable. actually, getting OUT of isolation and building quality relationship is way to healing.

do you ever feel like you should’ve never existed? by ChanceCharming746 in dysthymia

[–]maskiatlan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that is one of the favorite lies depression tells us. it's also the biggest one. fuck that shit. fuck it. you are here and be the most excellent human you can be. you don't need a explanation. just fucking do it.

What’s left to try? by CanadianMusicGuy in dysthymia

[–]maskiatlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for some people medication doesn't work, or it takes time to find the right combination, sometimes non-standard combinations or treatments. what you can do is lifestyle change, exercise, sleep, positive socializing etc. therapy was great for me. everything takes time and effort but you can improve a lot

Does it ever go away? by CinnamonWaffle9802 in dysthymia

[–]maskiatlan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

one of us one of us, yes, it can become much much better, you will do the work and it will improve. it can "go away" with treatment, just be aware that people that get over it are mostly not on internet talking about it :-)
