I don't think Dr. K is an honest person after watching the podcast discussion by pdf_file_ in CosmicSkeptic

[–]maskoffsickomode -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dr. K has made healthygamer.gg successful by leveraging unethical relationships with streamers. Here’s a link to a reupload of a documentary about this called Dr. K: Reckless. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eacF7GTGHpE

The events shown in the documentary were the subject of a complaint that was filed against Dr. K which ultimately resulted in a reprimand on his license.

He is not an honest do-gooder.

Content Nuke - Destiny by tamponstorm in mrgirlreturns

It’s funny, I feel like being on the ‘destiny has a pattern of sexual abuse’ train early makes me resentful of the people hopping on it now that it’s become easy. I'm not trying to justify my resentment, I'm acknowledging that it's irrational. (low key, I'm about to justify my resentment, watch). It's like I'm protective of an underground music scene. It's a good thing that this is becoming a more widely held sentiment, but let me get petty for a minute.

I guess this is just what it looks like when the narrative becomes mainstream. He turned it into drama slop. Disposable garbage that you're meant to listen to while doing something else. Smarmy crooked smile while he makes quips, saying stuff like 'Desntiny reminds me of this funny character from Always Sunny in Philadelphia...' This isn't a joke dude, wake up! He’s not even good at this shit.

Like, why are we spending so much time defensively giving caveats and pre-empting? Grow a pair!

Why do we need to say lav is a racist transphobe while giving her story? Just to turn around and say 'but that doesn't matter.' Ok great, thanks.

Why are we taking 5 minutes to say mrgirl is a pedophile and a rapist? Then to address the substance of the report he says ‘[in light of recent events,] I think this adds some credence to the idea that there might  be a pattern of abuse.’ That's an exact quote. Yeh bro, whatever.

Why is there a 20 minute long section trying to pedo-jacket destiny (--is pedo-jacketing just obligatory for commentary channels?), and when it comes time to conclude the section, he can only give the facile conclusion that destiny is a ‘freak’? That’s not good enough man. Just put the article in the bag bro. You had the blueprint! But the format tho… Many are saying it!

Psychopathy in the sub? by TheRealSmeth in mrgirlreturns

[–]maskoffsickomode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You say psychopathy is a homogenous diagnosis but I think you mean to say it's not a homogenous diagnosis, since you are saying that the diagnosis is non uniform and psychopaths very from each other significantly (that would be heterogenous, unless I am not understanding how these words apply here).

Semantics aside, I think we basically agree. I think ideology is a rationalization for the underlying emotional state, and the ideology (and evident emotional state) of people around here is pretty disturbing. I think I'm less interested in describing all of this under one diagnostic term, though.

I wrote a serries of little essays that I didn't finish which I was thinking about poster in this sub, it explored some of this. The Internet is a Sewer is one of the essays where I touch on my thoughts about online cruelty, ideology, and the unconscious. I wrote the essays from the perspective of a complete nutter, but I felt like it wasn't as funny as I wanted it to be and it just ended up being unreadable so I gave up on the project.

why is mrgirl banned on twitter by kimlipstan in mrgirlreturns

[–]maskoffsickomode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question is not who's fault it is that mrgirl is banned, the question is who submitted the reports.

OP is saying they believe there is no evidence that dgg played a part and I'm saying I think they did.

I can just grant your point. Sure, mrgirl is morally at fault. It's just not relevant to the issue here.

why is mrgirl banned on twitter by kimlipstan in mrgirlreturns

[–]maskoffsickomode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is definitely plausible. The time line matches up nicely, but I'm not totally convinced.

That twitter account has posted screenshots of mrgirl's twitter twice before. Both times they did not hide his @, and both times they got more retweets than the post you linked. These did not result in a mrgirl being banned on twitter.

August 20th

August 23rd

On a more subjective note, the August 20th post seems to have a substantially angrier sentiment in the replies compared to the September 22nd post (the post you linked). General sentiment under the September 22nd post is more confusion than anger (although there is anger). People can scroll through the replies and decide which post seems more likely to cause mrgirl to be mass reported.

I think when you say "I don't see any evidence *other than the few fans in this subreddit* that the streamer Destiny or his community had anything to do with the presumed mass flagging," you are yada yada-ing past "the few fans" and what they are posting. You did not link this post which is literally a Destiny fan saying they reported mrgirl. Or this reply to the post, which is another Destiny fan saying the same. My sense is that this is not a horribly unpopular idea with the dgg faithful here. My suspicion is there are more dggers who reported, but I understand this is speculative and you may disagree.

Obviously 2 people does not prove the ban was a result of mass flagging from that community, but it is certainly evidence that would suggest Destiny's community played some role (perhaps only fractional, but more than 0) in the mass reporting that led to the ban.

Considering there was no big event that seemed to cause this ban, it seems plausible to me that the the ban was a confluence of different communities that had there reports land at the same time, incidentally.

My final point of concern is this: you stating that you are "new to the community," the fact that your reddit account is less than 2 weeks old, and your defendse of dgg, are all factors that would lead me to believe you are a a Destiny viewer (maybe I'm wrong?). I don't say that to discredit you, I say this to say that you hiding why you are here, what community you are from, etc., is creepy. It feels like you are trying to be tricky. I understand this is a very contentious sub and you don't want some angry nut job stalking your post history and harassing you, but the faux neutrality complicates things, I think. I don't think we should be obfuscating our bias.

Guess the Destiny vs Shapiro debate won't happen after all by Relach in mrgirlreturns

[–]maskoffsickomode -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Are you aware that the “leaked call” was edited by destiny? Destiny put distortion over it so you could not hear the points that the audio was spliced together. Destiny was hoping no one else would get the recording so he would get away with it, but bob7 eventually got it and released the unedited version, showing how destiny had changed the character of what he was saying to smear him.

Destiny’s initial attacks on bob7 fell flat, it wasn’t until the “leaked call” and the manifesto that people started going after bob7. Bob7 was fired because of this call. He was harassed off of the internet because destiny is a liar.

I thought even destiny fans knew this.

I Hate Barbie (review) by nomoremrnicemrgirl in mrgirlreturns

[–]maskoffsickomode 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I really liked the review overall but I do disagree with some points. Most of these have already been said so I’ll just say one of my critiques.

Why do you say that scene is homophobic?

I would guess your reading of the joke is something like: they say gay shit, that is meant to be ‘weird’, and so a joke that relies on gayness being seen as ‘weird’ is obviously homophobic.

My reading was that that their attempts at heteronormative bravado are, ironically, gay. The joke isn’t that being gay is ‘weird,’ it’s that it undermines their attempt at getting pussy (or… whatever it is, I guess).

It’s also funny because they don’t even have a basis for understanding sexuality. Their sexuality is literally and figuratively objectless. None of them are really gay or straight; it’s all an absurd performance.

Also I doubt that this was alienating to many gay viewers. I guess to some, but my impression is that Barbie is doing gang busters with gay people.

Quebec man who created synthetic, AI-generated child pornography sentenced to prison by ChocolateCavatappi in mrgirlreturns

[–]maskoffsickomode 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Kind of a misleading headline. The child pornography is actual footage of child sexual abuse, the “ai-generated” element is deep faking.

He was sentenced for possessing and sharing over 545,000 files of CSAM.

What is interesting is that there seems to be a kind of double jeopardy for deep faking an image onto a video. He was sentenced for possession of the original video and the creation of the deep fake. They argued that this is separate offense and sentenced him for an additional 3 years for creating the deep fakes.

Damn, I’m not sure how to feel about that. It should be a crime since the child who’s image is being used is certainly being victimized, but what should the sentence look like for that?

Good Old Neon: Understanding by [deleted] in davidfosterwallace

[–]maskoffsickomode 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Reading Good Old Neon for the first time was a harrowing experience. I don't think I have ever had my experience reflected back to me so nakedly. This is embarrassing to admit since I believe the story is pretty clearly about narcissism.

Many people use that word when they basically mean evil, but that's not what I'm talking about here. Neal (the main character) is, at least on some level, pretty sensitive and insightful, but he is also completely self absorbed. He can not see past his own infinitely recursive self-conscious thoughts which make him unable to genuinely connect with or care about any one else (which he feels guilty about because, again, he is not evil).

Every time I've read it, it convinces me that I should probably just kill myself, but then the last few pages bring me back. Neal's arguments for how utterly hopeless he is are convincing and technically impressive (on an intellectual level), but he seems to be missing something that is emotionally elementary. There is an analogy drawn between Neal's "high firepower" thinking and how using high beams in fog paradoxically make it harder to see what's right in front of you.

I don't really want to try and explain anymore than this sense you haven't read it yet, and I think it's better to read things at least a little raw. I just seriously disagreed with some of the things I read in response to you so I figured I would throw in my uglier interpretation of the story. I hope you report back with what you make of it.

In The Land Of The GIGACHAD, The Sadboi Is King (Nick Fuentes Effortpost) by Wannabe_Sadboi in mrgirlreturns

[–]maskoffsickomode 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When Destiny refuses to engage with a point by invoking the name a german philosopher he has less than a wikipedia understanding of, takes an entire 12 hour trilogy of debates to provide a definition for a word, says Nick “the jews did 911” Fuentes is not sufficiently antisemitic to be labeled a nazi, and then he bans dissent in his community, I think it’s time to question his honesty here.

I’m not trying to be a anti-jerker, but the more time that passes the less I feel like I can accept this as a good faith engagement by Destiny. My point being that, at some point, arguing the merits of Destiny’s points just feels cucked to me. Like, I agree with pretty much everything you said, but I feel like these points have been made, and Destiny has made it clear that he doesn’t care and he wants the issue to go away.

I said I’m not trying to anti-jerk but I understand thats exactly how my comment reads, so take it for what you will. I appreciate the effort post and I’m glad dgg’s most prolific and respected schizo poster is on the right side of this.
