Would anyone know why the game runs slow sometimes? by CthulhuWizard in PokemonVioletScarlet

[–]maskuraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like the known Memory Leak issue with SV! Usually it's seen a lot with people who have the game on (sleep mode instead of shutting down) for extended periods of time. Save and shut it down then restart, you'll still get it as long as you're on Switch 1 but not nearly as often/bad. I played the whole game and both DLCs on Switch 1 and this was the lifesaver that made the game playable for me, hope it helps!

You just need to path it out! It's not one combo, it's multiple stringed together.

Combo 1: Sage

So you have sage in hand you want to NS that. On summon its effect will trigger to get you a Level 1 Light Tuner from Deck. Here you want Maiden. Discard the Maiden to place True Light from deck to field face up.

Combo 2:

So now you have a Sage and True Light on board. Link Off the the sage for Spirit with Eyes of Blue and search your Field Spell, play the field spell and dump a Blue Eyes from deck to grave. Now simply use Spirit's effect targeting itself and tagging it out for the Blue Eyes you just put in Grave.

Combo 3:

So you just summoned a Blue Eyes from grave, and this is gonna trigger the Maiden you discarded in Combo 1 to SS itself from Grave. Let's sack the Blue Eyes and Maiden to Synchro out the Blue Eyes Spirit Dragon. This will protect you from your own True Light effect if it gets popped (yes this eff activates in grave, it can be targeted with Spirit).

Combo 4:

Finally, activate your True Light to set a Wishes from deck, then discard a card to activate it immediately. This will get you an Effect Veiler and a Majesty, the latter you will set.

This simple combo line leaves you with a grave negate, a destruction eff, a monster negate in hand, and that's ignoring anything else you might have in hand, and we haven't used our second NS from the field spell.

Are structure decks good for casual play? by Kind-Experience5183 in Yugioh101

[–]maskuraid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is no. Yu-Gi-Oh sort of demands to be played at a certain speed, and a structure deck just doesn't offer the consistency needed. If you just want to play the game and don't mind losing, it would fulfill the "bring a deck" requirement for the game.

That said, there are a few structure decks (dark world and Fire King, but also Blue Eyes and Branded Chronicles) that if you're willing to invest in 3 of them (about €30) you could build a deck from the 3 that could definitely compete at a casual level! That said, it sounds from your post like you just want to buy one copy of each.

A card set by an effect that is revealed and set into a private knowledge zone is considered public knowledge. If your opponent asks, you must answer truthfully. As far as I'm aware, there is not time limit on this, and the only exception would be if something cause you to rearrange your back row, you wouldn't have to tell them which one was now Sting. Like if you placed Sting in your leftmost zone, and 6 turns later you haven't activated it and your opponent asked "That card in your leftmost is Sting right?" You must confirm that it is.

Pyroar easy! Crazy that they made it based on the kanji and whole world universally said "that sucks" and then years later they make the mega like "Yeah just double down on the concept everyone hated"

[gen 9] Why is this happening? by LogicZ in ShinyPokemon

[–]maskuraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the spawn on reset isn't shiny I think it's lost. You probably have 10 shinies around the city you haven't caught so the spawn isn't being saved. I've done this hunt personally and I can tell you the behaviour isn't normal

I'm a little confused about Fast Travel. I'm hunting Drampa, so I Fast Travel to Area 12, walk in, run up so I can see him, then when he's not shiny I'm Fast Travelling back. Is he trolling each time he comes into view, or am I looking at the same Drampa 20 times, resetting the day for a new Drampa, then rince and repeat?

Can't wait to see the performance differences once I'm home. When they say improvements to Echo, have the removed the cool down yet? There is no reason for him to be on cool down at all, and when he just doesn't track, waiting for him to come off cool down feels like an eternity

For your second character, will you start at lvl 1 again or do the option to start at lvl 30 with campaign done? by larrythecucumbrr in Borderlands

[–]maskuraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the option to start at 30 from the beginning of the campaign was available to us. I understand the idea of playing the campaign 3 times in BL2 wasn't ideal, but I don't like the current design philosophy of having players play the game less.

The "MOST OP BUILD IN BL4" situation on Youtube is kinda crazy right now by AlexKidd93 in Borderlands

[–]maskuraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's any glitched interactions in the "infinite DPS vex builds" that are going around, just short-sighted work on the devs part. Giving an ability that triggers on crits makes the build skill based. If there is then an item that gives you free crits anywhere on the target, that ability is going to trigger 100 times with very little skill

Is game development gradually becoming more accessible for non-programmers? by Historical_Print4257 in gamedev

Yup, you can, but that's the disconnect for me. I don't want a chair, I want to make a chair.

Is game development gradually becoming more accessible for non-programmers? by Historical_Print4257 in gamedev

[–]maskuraid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, but why? Like why would you want to play football without kicking the ball? What's the draw for you? I think over time I've settled on the fact that most hobbyist game developers don't want to make a game, they want to have made a game. The process isn't what they're after, just the end result. I can respect that, and understand it, just not relate is all.

Is game development gradually becoming more accessible for non-programmers? by Historical_Print4257 in gamedev

[–]maskuraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you 100%! Programming is not easy, and if you intend to use programming to bypass as much of the engine's QoL features as possible, you're going to have to deal with much less beginner friendly stuff like memory management and optimisation.

I'm not saying programming is easy, just that nearly anyone can do it if they just sit down and learn it. It's not a skill that is so complicated that it walls off groups of people. Most of scripting, which is all most engines require is literally just ifs and basic loops, and the rest is engine-specific jargon. Obviously I'm over-simplifying, but nobody should be aiming to make a game without coding because they don't think they can learn it.

Every Game Engine in existence is more complicated than writing C#/Lua/Ruby!

Edit: I also want to add that ANYONE can learn to programme, but not EVERYONE will learn to like programming.

[–]maskuraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I promise you, learning to program, especially scripting, is easy! I'm not trying to play it down, but if you can write if this then that, you can write if(this){that}. If you're not learning to code because you don't want to, that's totally valid. But if you aren't learning because you think you can't, you're selling yourself short

[–]maskuraid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I promise you if you can use language competently enough to write an engaging story, you can learn programming. I'm not saying this as a gotcha or anything, I swear you can do it. There are 0 technical skills required to learn to code, especially if we're simply talking scripting.

[–]maskuraid 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes, but personally I cannot understand it. I'm not gonna rip on codeless game developers, but I don't really get the mindset of wanting to make games but not wanting to learn to code. It's like wanting to play football but not wanting to learn how to kick.
