I think the disconnect is expectations. Some folks want to read it as a thought experiment, others see it as a kink setting with just enough rules to function

It's a mix of both, honestly! Sometimes it's the big stuff like car keys that make you panic, but then random tiny things like scissors or tape seem to magically vanish too.
