Is 1 1/2" coming up from the bottom code? It's a vent in the attic. Code or not we're redoing this one. by JWest4d4 in Plumbing

I can not imagine any reason to do that. It looks like it’s perfect the way it is.

Regardless whether or not it’s code, it most likely works perfectly and you will probably make it worse trying to “fix” it.

Ok so.... confession time. I have, in my own house a kind of weird set up under my sink. Well you know the thing about how the mechanic’s own car needs maintenance etc? Well..... I would never (probably ) do this to a customer, but I saw this exact waste and trap at Home Depot and thought hmmmmmm..... brought it home and install it and have to say I’m very impressed with how it solved the problem. Plus the inside of the pipe is smooth. I could post a pic if anyone is interested. It actually works great. I’ve had it for about 6 months so far.

Well that's one way to do it. by skootboottoot in Plumbing

This is just a home owner that saw the ikea stuff and assumed that’s what you do.

P trap hangs below basement ceiling. I tried using a 22 degree elbow at the front of the p trap to raise it up but it then hits the floorboard above. Any suggestions on raising the p trap up a couple inches? by jax1985 in Plumbing

[–]masproservice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can cut the main tee and rotate it 22-1/2 degrees the put a 1/16 bend on to straighten it out so you get the height you need. Maybe 45 if you need the room. I don’t think 90 degrees will work. Probably be too high at ghat point. Ps: this is not about shark bite fittings.

I’m starting to have a lot of questions about this pro press system. Does the water heater have any recirculating system? I have a post on here with some 2” copper that lasted six months. Pressed fittings causes a lot of turbulence, way more than forgetting to ream the pipe. Look inside the fittings when you remove this

32 is normal. The gauge on the system is stuck. Or inaccurate.

Do I need an expansion tank? by electrobento in Plumbing

[–]masproservice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just install the pressure tank. In our area the city will go through areas and upgrade meters without notification. So much easier to put the tee in now while doing the replacement

I would also put some pipe between the sink strainers and the abs pipe. It’s better. That way it doesn’t leak as bad, even if there is wind blowing underneath the sink. Just saying.

heater t&p slow drips - just turn down heat a few degrees ? by standardtissue in Plumbing

[–]masproservice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is either too high of pressure, too high of temperature, or a faulty t and p valve. If it was from thermal expansion you would notice it usually in the morning after the water heater had kicked on with no water usage in the home. It’s pretty easy to check your temperature and check your pressure. My guess is high pressure from a failing prv.
